An AMAZING (and Budget-Friendly) Flooring Makeover

Have you seen this flooring makeover from Rachael at Lovely Crafty Home?!  It’s nothing short of STUNNING.  Here’s how the stairs started out…

And here’s how they look now…

Gorgeous, right?  But can you tell what it is?  It’s PAPER!!  Yep, she basically decoupaged her floor with paper (followed by stain and then several coats of polyurethane).

I think it looks amazing…almost like leather.

Simply stunning.  For more on this project, head over to Lovely Crafty Home, or you can see her tutorial here.  It sounds like this may have been a pretty labor-intensive project, so I’m sure Rachael would be happy to answer any questions you have.  I think the main question most people would have about paper-covered floors is regarding durability.  I hope she keeps us updated via her blog about how well this floor holds up!

  3. What a cool idea! I also wonder if it gets slick when it gets wet. I shall have to head over there to ask some questions. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Wonderful article! For a room where you spend so much time
and energy, a little investment is not a bad idea. Interestingly, reshaping
your kitchen floor covers only 4% of your expenditure if you renovate the
    entire kitchen.

    Thanks for sharing!
