Architecture:: Dancing House, Prague

I was over at Dwell.com reading various articles when I came across pictures of Dancing House in Prague. I’m always so intrigued when architects think outside of the box (literally) when designing buildings. There’s definitely nothing “boxy” about this building!

This building, which was designed by architects Vlado Milunc and Frank O Gehry, was originally called the “Astaire & Rogers Building”, named after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. The restaurant is home to one of the city’s best restaurants, La Perle de Prague.

    Frank Gehry is often referred to as a “Starchitect”. (He counts Brad Pitt as one of his most faithful followers and best friends, after all…) I really get a kick out of that word. I have always loved this man’s work, though- so I just refer to him as “genius”! Check out his “fish sculpture”… :)

    Starchitect–that’s funny! I’ll be sure to check out the fish sculpture. Thanks for the info, Tambra! BTW–I’m loving your blog.

    Dancing House is a really beautiful building.
    Actually I like whole Prague. There are not many places in the world, about which I can say I love them. Prague is a very popular tourist destination receiving over 3 million visitors per year. It offers the contrasts of the past with bridges, cathedrals, gold-tipped towers and church domes, and that of a modern metropolis full of energy, music, and art. The architecture of Prague property includes Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque as well as classical buildings and Art Nouveau. Prague is also a city of bridges, 14 alone crossing the river Vltava. Prague is also a ‘Green City’ with numerous parks and forest areas.

    Dancing House is masterpiece of architecture and it offers magnificent views over Prague.
    Step out from the lift and you enter a small, stylish, air-conditioned restaurant, surrounded by windows on three sides. Look out, and Prague Castle, the Vltava River and Charles Bridge are all before you; resplendent in the daytime and awe-inspiring at night. This restaurant and some other cozy Prague restaurants are ideal for a visit any time of the year, during the summer months guests also have the option of dining on the roof terrace (fine weather permitting).

    Within-painted doors petroleum based will be maintained until the daily use they receive, and the painted surface will be easier to clean too. Using oil paints on the basis of exterior doors is also an excellent idea for painting projects free of charge "Maleri projekt free" because the harder surface should dry weather front over some latex paints.

    Dancing building is amazing. When I have been there it caught my attention very easily. I think it is one of the best Prague places to visit. it's interesting to see modern architecture between the old buildings, it really seems that two people dancing close together.
