Art Inspiration

Are you an artist?  I mean, can you see a picture in your head, and transfer that image to canvas with paint and brushes?

I’m not.  To me, people who can do that are on par with those musical geniuses who can hear a song, and then sit down at the piano and play it without any sheet music in front of them.  I could never do that either.

But I need a piece of artwork to bring some color to John & Alice’s mantel, and in the last week, I’ve been inspired by two paintings to perhaps try my hand at painting a real, actual piece of artwork.  The though of that makes me nervous, but perhaps there’s a budding artist inside of me just waiting to express herself on canvas.  Maybe.  Maybe not.  But I have this image in my head, and I have this feeling inside like I can’t rest until I get that image onto canvas.  I’ve been inspired…

Aren’t those beautiful?  I really want to try my hand at creating something similar, with the colors of the first painting, but the watery, subtle quality of the second.  The thought makes me nervous.  I wouldn’t even know where to begin.

Perhaps I’ll just ask my mom to paint it for me.  Smile

  2. Hi Kristi,
It must be artist Friday or something because creating something for a new living room is exactly what I have done today. I wanted a set of contemporary prints which featured birds and when I couldn't find anything I liked online I turned to my graphic design skills and produced them myself.
After seeing the wonderful bird mural you have in your kitchen , I'd love to know what you think, also I am giving anyone who comments on them a chance to win a digital set.

  3. I say go for it.  What's the worst that could happen (except maybe your pride gets bruised)?  You sound like you're itching to do it and it could look fabulous!!!

  4. I can't wait to see what you do.  I have tried doing art myself, and somehow I love it for a day or two, and then decide I overinflated its appeal.  I give up!  BTW, I nominated you for a fun award… you can check it out on my blog.

  5. I'm almost positive that you will go a great job on the painting! You are so good at everything you do, this should be a problem.  Just remember its only paint, it can easily be changed.  I think the second picture is an easier picture to do, just keep blending.  Good luck and I can't wait to see what you do!

  6. To tell you honestly, I'm a frustrated artist and I do believe that being a true artist is a gift. You're born with it. You can't just learn it from school. But you can develop it with proper training and some inspirations.

The artist I admire the post are the painters. They have this unique and stunning way of giving out their emotions and skills through their brushes. Bravo to them.

  7. I am not an artist but I love art and creation of different art stuff for my living room. To read your blog I am gonna do some artwork for my room properly.
