Beautiful Kitchen Inspiration

Do you remember those days when kitchens (and bathrooms) were simply utilitarian? No style, no frills, nothing customized…simply the basics needed to get the job done.

Wow, we’ve come a long way, haven’t we? Kitchen design is big business now, and they’ve become rooms that are full of style and customized features, while still being highly functional. In fact, with the customization of cabinetry and the availability of more specialized appliances, kitchens have become even more functional than ever. Look at some of these gorgeous kitchens by Michigan kitchen designer EW Kitchens:

This one is my favorite.
I love that green! It looks so fresh and clean.
And the stained cabinets are fabulous!

So why spend all of this money on a kitchen?? The answer is quite simple…especially for families. The kitchen has become the heart of the home. Think of how much time your family spends in the kitchen–cooking breakfast, preparing lunch, cooking dinner, entertaining and gathering with friends and family, preparing holiday meals, helping the kids with homework, working on craft projects. I mean, possibly no other room in our homes gets as much wear and tear as our kitchens. So if we’re going to spend so much time there and get so much use out of them, shouldn’t they look fabulous as well? Of course they should!

Be inspired, and happy decorating!

Hi there! I just discovered this site. Love all the chairs at the top! I would like to submit a DIY project but I’m not sure. It may be a little too simplistic! I’m attaching a link for the post I wrote on it, and if it passes muster I could write it out properly for you. I hope you don’t mind me asking this here before I submit to the DIY Projects form.

    Thank you!

Azra, your wall treatment is fantastic! Please don’t submit it with the form. I prefer that you e-mail me directly. I’d love to give you another option for submission. addicted2decorating@live.com

Ok, your post drew my attention. :) The kitchen has always been the heart of the home (much as I hate using the old 1950s expression!)

A combination of design shows and a mountain of options that weren’t possible even 10 years ago — anti-slam drawer glides and self-closing lazy susans and small appliances of every description and forty million color choices (Ok, I might be exaggerating a tad, but not by much) — it’s no wonder today’s kitchens are so much fun!

    Hi Kelly~
Maybe we should use the phrase “the HUB of the home”. That may be more accurate, since it’s where so many things take place now.

Most 1960′s kitchens couldn’t serve as the hub simply because they were too tiny to fit even two people in there at the same time! :) We’ve definitely come a long way.
