Fabulous Modern Style

I don’t feature home exteriors here very often. After all, this is a site all about interior decorating, right? But let’s face it…since most of us are very passionate about the interior of our home, we’ll also care about the exterior.

Now in the daily course of business, I look at a LOT of photos of interiors, exteriors, furnishings, and everything else dealing with homes. I see many things that make me say oh yuck, what were they thinking?! And I see many things that make me say oh, that’s nice and wow, very interesting. But every once in a while, I come across something that really makes me FEEL something. It’s as if I’ve been looking for this thing for years, but just didn’t know it. Immediately, I love it. It makes me want to smile, laugh, cry with joy, and jump up and down and squeal like a giddy little school girl. That’s exactly what I felt when I saw photos of this absolutely amazing home in Dallas, Texas.

I came across this fabulous home on HGTV’s Rate My Space, and it belongs to jmcminn.

But beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. While I responded to these photos like a giddy schoolgirl, my husband’s response was quite different. Before showing him the photos, I told him that I had found my dream home. He looked at my computer screen with a bewildered look on his face and said, “You want to live in an office building?” Ah, poor guy. He truly has no grasp of or appreciation for mid-century modern architecture. But I love him anyway.

So what inspires you? Do you love mid-century modern? Or possibly an Italian villa-inspired home. I love the fact that we’re all so different. How boring the world would be if we all loved the same thing!
