If I Weren’t A Decorator, I’d Be A Party Planner!

Have I ever told you that I came this close to going the wedding and party planning route instead of the interior decorating route?  It’s true.  I did.  Almost.

I definitely think I made the right decision for myself, but I still find myself fascinated with, and drawn to party planning and entertaining ideas.  I love that party planners get to latch on to a theme and run with it.  The sky’s the limit, and generally people are very open to letting their imaginations run wild when it comes to their parties.  (Not so much when it comes to their home that they have to live in and be comfortable in day after day.)

Anywhooo…I came across the most scrumptious new-to-me online magazine that’s all about entertaining and party planning, and I wanted to pass along the goodness to you.  The magazine is called The Party Dress, and there’s also a blog and website by the same name.  Here’s a sampling of ideas that were in the fall issue of the magazine.

Aren’t those colors fantastic?!  This is obviously perfect for a little girl’s party, but I could also see this for a baby shower.

These blues and greens also caught my eye.  This was an idea they shared for a mod fish baby shower, but of course, these ideas could be used for a variety of occasions.

This fantastic popcorn bar was created for an outdoor slideshow/movie at a family reunion.  Such a simple idea with gorgeous presentation!

If you’re looking for ideas for the upcoming holidays, the holiday issue of the magazine is packed with great ideas…

The ideas in this magazine are fantastic, and the photography is just gorgeous.  I could waste away an entire day pouring over each and every detail!  Go take a look for yourself…

And on a related topic, did you happen to see the absolutely amazing and perfect-in-every-detail fairy ballerina party that Shelley from House of Smiths had for her daughter?

If you haven’t seen it yet, you simply must visit, and soak in every detail.  Even if you don’t have kiddos, or don’t have a daughter, or don’t ever plan on hosting a party of any kind ever again, you will still enjoy the stunning photos and the incredible attention to detail that went into this party.

So do you also like to look at entertaining and party ideas?  When it comes to the holidays, do you plan a big, fancy sit down meal, complete with centerpieces and place cards?  Or does your family keep it casual and simple with buffet-style dining?
