I’m Smitten With The Lettered Cottage

I’ve only recently discovered The Lettered Cottage, a wonderfully charming blog written by a delightfully adorable couple, Layla and Kevin Palmer. (I know, I know…where have I been, right? I must have been living under a rock to have only just now discovered this jewel of a blog!!)

I’m completely enamored of this blog…I mean, COMPLETELY. Since first stumbling upon it this weekend, it’s been open in my browser, in its own little tab, never to be closed, and I sneak a read when I have a few spare moments. (Well, except for last night, when I spent two solid hours on it, pouring over ever word and obsessing over each photo in each post.)

Layla and Kevin purchased a little cottage that was in desperate need of some love and attention. What they gave (and continue to give) to their little cottage was so much more than that. They gave it LIFE! The transformation is nothing short of spectacular. For example, just look at this kitchen before and after:

Can you believe that those are the same cabinets? I kid you not! THE SAME CABINETS!! They just added some moulding, architectural details, paint, and lots of elbow grease. I’m absolutely amazed. Oh…and the draperies? Ummm…those are canvas painters drop cloths.

And be sure that you don’t miss this post where she explains how they achieved this fireplace transformation for $82:

Yep…$82 DOLLARS!!

Okay, I’m not going to tell you any more. You’ll just have to visit The Lettered Cottage to learn all of their amazing tips and tricks.

But I must warn you…if you click, I CANNOT BE HELD LIABLE if you start missing days of work, miss business meetings, forget to pick your children up from school, decide you don’t have time to cook and start living on fast food, etc. Yes, there are many potential side effects from reading The Lettered Cottage. But on the plus side, you’ll get some AMAZING ideas for your home!!

Well, you're too kind. But trust me, my new fantastically creative e-friends…YOU hav done the inspiring!!

It took me two years(!) to decide how I wanted to decorate my tiny little condo (yes, I have a T.L.C. also), and finally a vision came together. Now, after "visiting" your home, I want to scrap my plans and head in a different direction COMPLETELY.

I know that I can't, though. Not only would my very patient and understanding husband reach the end of his rope and leave me if I made that kind of decision at at this point, but I would be in for one HECK of a lecture from my mom! And I'd rather avoid that. :D

So for now, I'll just have to "visit" you guys. Thank YOU for the inspiration!!

I love it! Really like her ideas for over your fireplace. We did something similar to ours (adding molding over the mantel) and it really made a big difference.

Looks great – I'll have to check it out :)

Oh gosh. This is my new favorite blog. It makes me want to completely re-decorate my whole house! i've been looking for a section on wall decorating? Perhaps I missed it. I would like to suggest Phogos. I have a Victorian themed room and had a life size Victorian dress printed. I have it on my wall and it looks great!
