Let Me Be Real Honest With You…

This is pretty much how I feel…

dying daisies

After many, many weeks of working crazy long hours to finish John & Alice’s kitchen and family room, and being absolutely exhausted, then receiving news last week of Matt’s brother, and dealing with a grieving husband who already suffers from muscle weakness and fatigue which is only compounded many times over after a few of days of mourning…

Well, I’m spent.

I’m generally a deep sleeper who wakes up in the morning feeling refreshed and energized.  Lately I’ve been waking up each morning in a haze, exhausted, overwhelmed, knowing I have a huge list of things I need to do, but not knowing where to start.  My own home has been severely neglected over these last few weeks, with piles of laundry in the bedroom, piles of dishes in the sink.  There’s not one single room in my condo that’s completely finished, so I sit here and stare at the thousands of projects that need to be finished, feeling completely overwhelmed.  I spin my wheels all day long, and get absolutely nowhere.

I say all of that to say this:  I need a break.  I need to regroup.  I need to refocus.  My goal here at A2D is to bring you fantastic projects and helpful information each day that will inspire you and get you excited about your home and what you can do with it on your own.  But right now, I can’t even inspire myself, much less anyone else.

So I’m going to take a short break.  It won’t be a long break, but it will be a complete break.  I need a few days away from my computer, away from the blog, away from the A2D Facebook Page.  I need a few days of not having to read e-mails, or not having to answer questions about decorating or DIY projects.  In other words, I just need a few days for me.  And because y’all are awesome, I know you understand.

So, because this was a decision I made just this morning, I don’t have any fantastic guest bloggers lined up or anything like that.  It’ll just be silence here at A2D…but not for long.  Like I said, it’ll just be a few days, but right now, I’m not sure how many days that will be exactly.

And hopefully I’ll come back refreshed, regrouped, refocused, with some awesome projects for you, and more decorating inspiration.

Thanks in advance for understanding…’cause I know you do…’cause you’re awesome!

P.S.  The Friday link party will continue as scheduled.  I wouldn’t pass up a chance to be inspired by YOU!!

  1. I am so very sorry to hear about Matt's brother. I've been off for a number of weeks because of my dad's dying so I missed seeing about it. Have a very good rest and take good care of yourselves. <3

  2. Take much needed time and don't stress about the blog world – we sill be fine.  You, on the other hand, are in much need and a break is not all you need.  Take time to call a dear friend who will, if nothing else, sit with you in your time of need and just be there.  Praying for you.

  3. You have my sympathies.  Love your blog.  Those daisy's are done, but just as the plant needs time to refresh, so do you.  And soon you will be in full bloom again too.  Take your time.

  4. Hope you have many days of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation ,, sometimes we just need it.  We'll miss you though.

  6. Take as much time as you need.  I feel overwhelmed just thinking about the projects in my fixer-upper house, compound that client projects and then a family loss, I couldn't imagine.  Hope a few days to yourself is enough to re-energize, but if you need more take it.  We'll all still be here. 🙂

  7. Everyone needs a break, I am having one right now as well! You will come back much happier and we will miss you, but be waiting patiently for your return!

  8. Take that much deserved and needed break, Kristi!  You know your true fans understand & will be here when you are back.  Those who complain aren't true A2D fans.  🙂  Go get a massage, a pedicure, or even just a good book.  Relax!  Prayers that you find serenity again.

  9. I totally understand, but please, please, PLEASE don't stop blogging all together!  My poor little uncreative heart would be broken!  Take as much time as you think you need, but please come back to us!
    🙂

  10. Kristi, I think it's wonderful, and IMPORTANT, that you take this time you need.  So many people just keep pushing & struggling on, not wanting to really look at things, and see what needs to be done, to refocus, gain control, and get back on track, refreshed. It's not a healthy way to go, neither mentally or physically.  So good for you, for knowing and following the best way to getting everything in order again. Be sure to REST too. I'm sorry to learn you and your husband have had to deal with so much difficult matters lately. I'll add you both to my prayers, and look forward to seeing you up & running again on the web, when you're ready. Everyone will be still be here. Take care. 🙂

  11. Take as much time off as you need.  We will be here when you get back. It is time to have me time, and you certainly deserve it!

  13. Oh sweetie, hang in there. You would not be given more than you can handle even though it may seem that way right now. Take your break, refresh, renew, reenergize and then come back and keep WOWING us all!
I would give you a great big HUG if I could! Just know that I will be thinking about you until your return!
