More Kitchen Design Decisions

The more I narrow down my own personal style (which has been quite a chore for me!), I’ve come to a realization. I’ve started noticing a pattern in things that I’m drawn to. I seem to prefer items with shapes and lines of antique or vintage items, but that are updated with contemporary finishes. Do you know what I mean? Well, let me give you an example.

In fact, a perfect example is this apron front sink from Lavello. The apron front sink is a decades-old design that was generally found in old farmhouses, which is why it’s also called a farmhouse sink. But if you take that classic design and shape, but finish it in stainless steel, it fits perfectly into a contemporary kitchen. I love that!

The 36 inch curved front sink pictured below (which I think is the same one in the kitchen photo above) is $679.00 at Lavello. Now maybe I’m confused, but it seems like I’ve seen these sinks for over $1000 on other sites. If so, that’s quite a good deal!

Regarding my own kitchen design, one thing I know for sure is that I want a sink with only one large basin. I’m so tired of having one basin with the disposal, and then the other basin that gets clogged up with even the most minor buildup of food items, rendering the second basin absolutely useless. Okay, maybe it’s just because I have a really cheap sink. It’s definitely time for an upgrade! Perhaps something like this would best fit my needs…and my kitchen.

This particular company has sinks of all sizes, so no matter what size kitchen you have, they have a sink that will fit. They have one for my tiny little kitchen in my tiny little condo, and they have ones that are perfect for the most grand chef’s kitchen. The prices seem quite reasonable compared to what I’ve seen on other sites. So if you’re in the market for a new kitchen sink, you might want to take a look!

As far as my kitchen goes, I think I have all of my design decisions made. I’ll share everything with you very soon. I’m pretty excited about it! It may be tiny, but it’ll be fabulous!

Be inspired, and happy decorating,

It looks real contemporary and a bit retro if you asked me. Sometimes combining design styles is the best option if you can come up with a really great look after.
