Several months back, I had a woman contact me who needed help with window treatments in her living room.
We selected a beautiful watermelon pink (yes–PINK) silk for draperies, with a multi-colored fringe. They made a huge difference in the room.
She’s now ready to move on to the next project. See those wingback chairs in the first “before” picture? Well, obviously those need some attention, as the color is all wrong for the room. But this will be no ordinary re-upholstery job. She found this chair at Mackenzie Childs, and we’re using it as our inspiration…
That chair, by the way, is $3950.00. Yikes!!! Well, our version is going to look just as fabulous, for a fraction of the cost. We’ll be using these fabrics…
I’m so excited to get started on these, and you’ll see the final result here. Stay tuned!!

Can't wait! Love fabric no.1! The inspiration chair is awesome.
Great post. I often pick up chairs at thrift stores for next to nothing and the re-upholster them myself. Whehever I have guests over they just love them. I'm sure they think I spent a fortune on them as well. But often times with material and a chair from the thrift store, I can do it all for under 40 dollars.
I know what you mean. It's a thrill for me to find super-cheap furniture and then reupholster it. I currently have a sofa in my living room that I found at a garage sale for $10. I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet, but I'm so excited to turn it into something spectacular! Then yesterday, I saw the most incredible chair at Goodwill for $9.99. It definitely needed new fabric, but the shape was incredible!! Too bad I don't have a space for it in my tiny condo!!
I wanted to buy the chairs like that looking in the picture. The fabric is looking nice of those chairs. These type of chairs attract anyone to sit in my house.
