Voice-Controlled Wi-Fi Temperature Control? My Wish Is Reality!

Okay, in all honesty, I can’t really say that I’ve been “wishing” for voice-controlled WI-FI temperature control, because honestly, I never knew that such a thing as voice-controlled thermostats existed. But now that I know, I think I must have one!
Matt and I love to turn the thermostat down at night so that it’s cooler in the condo while we sleep. (Do you do that? I need it cold when I sleep, and then I cover up with my down comforter.)
But then every single morning, Matt and I go through the same song and dance. Right after breakfast, the daily conversation goes something like this:
Matt: It’s freezing in here! Are you cold?
Me: Yeah, I’m kinda cold, too.
Matt: Should we turn the temp up?
Me: Yeah, probably so.
And then we just kind of sit there at the table, trying to avoid eye contact (both of us “busy” on our computers) fully expecting that the other will stop what they’re doing and go over and turn up the thermostat.
Seriously. Every morning. Without fail.
(Okay, in the spirit of full disclosure, I almost always win. 😀 Not because I’m lazy, or entitled, but just because Matt sits closer to the thermostat.)
So when I heard that there was actually a thermostat out there with voice control, I was pretty excited. Take a look…
Now I’ve never been an “electronic gadget” kind of person, but this is definitely something that I’d actually use! On a daily basis, even!
Oh, and the Wi-Fi is pretty amazing, too!
You can monitor and control your thermostat from any location, whether you’re just in another room of your home, or in another country on vacation. But since Matt is always home, and I work from home, I can definitely see us making more use of the voice control feature.

Smart response that “learns” what temp you want and when you want it? We could certainly use that!
I’m expecting one of these awesome little thermostats to appear on my doorstep in the near future, and I’m pretty excited to see if it’ll put an end to our morning temperature conversation ritual. I’ll let you know!

hmmmm…nope, I can’t imagine ever needing something like this…I suppose it could be fun talking to a box on the wall (!) but I’m wondering if they’re aren’t thermostats out there you could just put on a timer to basically do the same thing?? lol…I’m not trying to be negative, I’m just not a gadget-y person at all… 🙂
Haha! I’m not gadget-y either, but this really appeals to me. The thermostat we have now is actually programmable, but I’ve never taken the time to read the owners manual to see how to program it. And when I just start punching the buttons to try to figure it out, I just mess things up, and things start blinking. Just being able to tell it what to do seems so much easier to me. 😀
A little pricey for me. I use my programmable one religiously and love it. The HVAC guy set it up for me though I do admit.
So how close do you have to be? Because if I have to walk over to it for it to hear/understand me then I might as well use my finger to adjust it. Doing it from your smart phone or computer might be a better option that way you can adjust it before you get home or before you get out of bed.
Sounds great to me! However, if it started calling me Dave and ordering me around, I would have to have it blown up
I’d just be happy with a programmable thermostat! This one sounds like you could adjust it from anywhere in the house with your laptop/tablet. Cool stuff!

I do believe that a voice controlled thermostat is a great idea and I don’t belive that persons would go out and buy it because they are lazy. Rather, it appears to me to be device that provides utility and value. For example, if someone is conducting business from home (home-based businesses) it is not going to be always practical to get up and turn up or down the thermostat especially if you have deadlines to meet and you are way behind and missing those deadlines can be costly! As I began, I see real value in the product and encourage everyone to get one, price notwithstanding as it can save time and prevent you from breaking your concentration.
