What Can I Do With My Cracked Ceiling?
by Julie
(Kentucky)
We live in an older house and the ceiling is awful. There are cracks where the pieces meet, spit balls from 15 years ago (yuck!) and it has been "fixed" in several areas. My hubby just bought me new furniture and I don't want the ceiling to stick out like a sore thumb. We are kinda on a budget and I wanted something that would have people talking about it (but in good way LOL!) Please help!

Well, unfortunately, I don't have an easy answer for you. There are a variety of products you can use to cover a ceiling, such as metal decorative ceiling tiles, like the ones below from Armstrong. However, those products are generally not cheap.

Another option would be to use joint tape and joint compound and repair the damage correctly. And then once it's repaired, give it a fresh coat of paint. That's actually the route that I would suggest. If you do a job correctly the first time, you only have to do it once! :)
But at the very least, it sounds like your ceiling needs a good cleaning.
Happy decorating!
