Using Painters Tape Around Curves
Today’s DIY Basic is very…well…basic. Painters tape can be so helpful when it’s used correctly, but if it’s used incorrectly, it just creates more problems. Using it around curves can be particularly challenging unless you use this little trick.
No go forth and paint those curves…with beautiful crisp and clean edges!!
Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
Brilliant! So simple, yes, but absolutely brilliant girl!
Okay, I almost hate to tell you this, but did you know you can buy flexible painter's tape specifically for curves? 🙂
Yes, Deb, I know they sell all kinds of specialty things. I just hate to spend extra money on them. 🙂 I don't buy the little corner things…I use regular painters tape for that and just tear it at an angle. I don't buy flexible tape…I just use regular stuff.
To me, all those little "specialty" things are just a waste of money that can be used on other things.

This really is a great tip. It uses less tape than the method I usually do of sticking straight pieces all around and around, this is a much neater finish and provides nice coverage on the surface that you wouldn't want spray paint to get on. How hard is it to remove? Thanks again for the tips!
I have a ridiculous question. WIth using such a small amount of tape around the fixtures you are painting, how do you keep overspray from getting to the non painted surface? Please email me with your answer. thanks so much,,, I have the ugly brass fixtures and shower enclosure. NOT FOR LONG!!. a couple of years ago I painted my kitchen countertops and everyone that comes in cannot believe it. I used a sea sponge and about 4 different colors, It is beautiful, I am in the process of removing my wall border now, to paint bathroom. I HATE wall border!!
