Getting Down To The Wire

Y’all!! One month!! That’s what I have left to get this condo ready to put on the market. One month.

Thirty-one days!!!

I woke up in a panic this morning with that thought buzzing through my head, and a knot in my stomach.

I tend to have what Matt and I call “Wonder Woman Syndrome”, where I think I’m capable of far more than I really am. So when I look around at all of the projects I still need to finish, somehow in my mind, it all seems perfectly reasonable and completely do-able in one month.

I still have one bathroom that hasn’t even been touched, other than the wallpaper I started stripping off the walls about four years ago. But that shouldn’t be a big deal, right? I can do a complete bathroom makeover in three days, right?

And I still need to finish the built-in closets in our bedroom, but that should be simple! Just a couple days on that and I’ll get those whipped out for sure!

And then there are the bookcases in the living room that I still haven’t started. Just a couple of days on those, and they’ll be good to go, I’m sure!

And the second bedroom needs to be completely repainted, because even I’m reasonable enough to know that black walls need to be repainted before putting a home on the market. But that should just take a couple of hours, right?

See what I mean? Wonder Woman Syndrome.

The good thing is that I’ve lived with this Wonder Woman Syndrome for so long now I’m getting better at distinguishing the delusional timelines and goals in my head from what will play out in reality.

Another good thing is that my in-laws will be here on Sunday, and my father-in-law is willing and ready to help me with whatever needs to be done. (I just hope he understood what he was getting himself into when he volunteered to help me!! I have a loooooooooooong list waiting for him!!) 😀

I’m sure it’ll all get done. I just need to breathe, organize my time very well, make lists, and have a clear idea of what NEEDS to get done vs. what I WANT to get done.

It’s gonna be a whirlwind kind of month!!

So when can I put YOU on the schedule to help? 😀

  1. You ARE wonder woman and you can do it! You’ll be so busy though, glad your in-laws are willing to pitch in. If I lived closer, I’d actually consider coming down to help, but only if I was actually a help – I might be one of those oglers who just wants to stare at every project you’ve done in there and just be in the way. haha!

  2. Totally understand…I’m 99 days out from my wedding and just started freaking out about the amount of stuff that still needs to get done!!

  3. I was reading YHL’s blog and they hadn’t even started packing 2 wks before the move. They put down hardwoods in their new place (4 bdrms and a hallway) in less than a week and still had to pack before moving day this weekend. Crazy town! I’d be soooo stressed out. You have some time, but we all know how quickly it goes, however, I know you are more than capable. Some of us would take the easy way out because some of those projects aren’t a necessity. Up to you, of course! If I were close, I’d help you prime and paint those black walls and help with the builds, too!

  4. Kristi, if I lived closer to you, I’d be there to help as much as possible. I really don’t know how you do it all. It actually makes me tired just reading about how much you get done as it is! I so admire your ambition and enthusiasm, that’s for sure!

  5. This might be a good time to talk to your realtor before you spend time and money on projects that might not give you a return or make any difference in getting the sale. Location and price are the driving force behind an offer. As much as we all love what you have done with your condo there are as many that will change the colors and anything else that isn’t their taste. And never go back to see what the new owner/s have done to your beloved home…..it can be painful. I had to remind myself that I changed everything and now the new owner is doing the same thing…..sometimes that is hard to accept. But, you will have a new home to make your fresh mark. When we post that for sale sign we have to take the emotions out of the mix. Good Luck.

  6. Wow! I bet you will have an offer within 24 hrs of listing. The person that wins the “bidding war” that is sure to follow, will for sure be doing the “Snoopy” happy dance the minute the ink is dry on the contract! WAY TO GO WONDER WOMAN!

  7. You will always be ‘wonder woman’ in my book. 😉
And if I lived nearby….I really would offer to help. I can’t paint with the best of them.
Good luck! You’ll get it done….and probably notch back a couple projects a tad. It’s all good.

  8. I would love to come over and give you a hand, However i popped over to NZ for the weekend last week( it was Freezing). I spent all my pennies. Sometimes you do’nt know how you are going to do some thing, it’s only later when you can say how you did it.
Cheers from alot cooling down Brisbane.

  9. I feel SOOOOOO like you!!!!!! Feel free to come here and we’ll help you with we can 🙂

    Kisses!!!!!

  10. You can do it!
Just keep it simple and prioritize what absolutley needs to be done.
Looking forward to the final tour! 🙂

  11. I wish I could come down and help. I’m sure you’ll organize your time well for this month and with your father-in-law coming to help, you’ll be amazed at what the two of you can get completed. Go, Go, GO Kristi!

  12. One month to do all that?!! You can do it, I believe in you! =]
We have seven months to get some things done in our house before our first baby arrives and I’m freaking out about that!
