Inspiring Chandelier Makeovers

Lighting makeovers are one of my favorite things to see. There’s just something amazing about taking a shiny brass chandelier from the 80s, giving it a coat of spray paint, and making it look fresh and modern. Every time I visit my local ReStore, I browse the lighting aisle wishing that I had many more rooms in which I could use all of the lighting I find that just needs a little TLC.

If you’ve got an outdated chandelier, chances are it doesn’t need to be replaced. It probably just needs a little spray paint, perhaps some beads and baubles, and maybe even some new bulbs. Here are some great before and after chandelier makeovers for inspiration.

  1. Hi Kristi –
Thanks for including my chandelier in your post. XO! I just gave it a good cleaning on Friday to get the glass and crystals all sparkly for Easter dining.

Love how you added the code so that you can see the before and afters in a roll over.
    My best- Diane

  2. What an inspiring post! I suddenly got an idea (from two chandelier pictures!) for a “builder chandelier” I took out of my dining room….maybe it will make a new appearance into my kitchen dining area….
    So cool!

  3. Thanks for doing our homework for us. Each one of these makeovers is unique and an inspiration for what is possible with some imagination and minimal supplies. Like you, I’m wishing I had a room that needed a new light fixture. Surely, somewhere….

  4. I came home with a freebie at a garage sale last summer but I used it as a chandelier for a Halloween party. Now I’ll be looking at freebie’s to jazz up for every day.

  5. There are some great chandeliers here. I particularly like the ones by ‘The Tall Chick’ and ‘Trash To Treasure decorating’ and ‘Focus Jennie’. I have an ugly chandelier over the dining room table in my apartment. I’m pretty sure I can’t do these things to it but I might get an IKEA shade to cover it up.

  6. Those brass chandeliers are definitely inspiring! Lighting is one of the most important factors to achieve an overall elegance and inviting ambiance. I really like the white crystal chandelier, it looks so fresh and classy. I will surely share this amazing post!
