Inspiring Design:: Style On A Shoestring

Today’s inspiring designs come from Style On A Shoestring, a San Diego interior design firm owned by talented designer Tracy Lynn.

Tracy has a great eye for traditional design. But my favorite thing about the Style On A Shoestring website? The fact that she includes before pictures of each room! Who doesn’t love a good “before and after”, right? Here are a few of my favorites:

Just beautiful!  Notice the tile on the backsplash and in the shower.
Isn’t that gorgeous?  The whole mix of textures and colors is so relaxing.

So pretty!  I really like how the built-ins create a little nook for the bed.  And those draperies?  Stunning!

This just proves that you can turn anything into artwork if you display it correctly.
Those are matchbooks, right?  Or maybe they’re too big to be matchbooks.
But it’s a collection of SOMETHING, presented in a fantastic way to create a colorful display.

This room is absolutely picture perfect.  Those wingback chairs are gorgeous!
And I love the use of the two chandeliers.

Another dining room with two chandeliers.  I love that look!

I really like a traditionally decorated room that isn’t overdone.
This “edited” traditional style room is beautiful, and the colors are so warm and inviting.

I hope you found some inspiration in Tracy Lynn’s beautiful work!  For more great before and after rooms, head over to the Style On A Shoestring website.  And if you’re in the San Diego area, and find yourself needing help with your home, give her a call!

  1. Wow! What a brilliant idea. I am so amazed with the transformation of the house. The "before" photos are very different from the "after". Good job! Keep it up.

  2. I love the dining room with two chandeliers – there's just enough black in the interior to give the entire look the right amount of contrast and brightness. Great idea to put a large mirror on the wall to visual expand the space.

  3. These are really great rooms. I am off to check the website to see how much of a budget the rooms were. Great spaces none-the-less.

  6. Your blog is very informative as it helps people who wanted to decorated their home but do not have the funds to hire an interior designer. And nice picture of beautiful outdoor furniture & accessories! It is a remarkably design by an interior designer.  This outdoor furniture is "Absolutely Beautiful Things".

  7. I don’t know of those are matchbooks on the dining room wall either, but I’m totally using this as inspiration to make my own matchbook wall art! Love your site!
