Jen’s Gorgeous Cloffice (Closet Office)

I love the internet.  I mean, I honestly can’t imagine how we managed without it.  We’ve got all this information and inspiration at our fingertips, and we can call it up within seconds.  On top of that, it’s so fun to just start following links and see where you end up.  Have you ever done that?

That’s what I did last night, and I was thrilled with where I ended up, because it was the exact inspiration that I needed!!  I mean, THE.EXACT.THING that I needed!!

So it all started when I googled “kitchen organization” and limited my search specifically to blogs.  I came across some fantastic organization ideas from some amazingly creative bloggers who are far more organized that I could ever hope to be, and not only do I hope to incorporate many of the organizational ideas that I found into my own kitchen, but I’ll also share with you some of my favorite ideas that I came across.

Anyway, by following links from blog to blog, I wound up on a new-to-me blog called IHEART Organizing.

I found some great organizational tools and ideas for sure!  But what I was the most thrilled about was coming across Jen’s absolutely gorgeous and awesomely organized closet office!

Isn’t that amazing?!  I love everything about it, from the wallpaper, to the little hanging cups, and the swing arm lamp.

You may recall, I have my own cloffice in the works (which I’ll actually use as my sewing “room”).  Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten much done on it.  The reason?  For some reason, I completely lacked creative vision for it.  Oh, I had the big vision, but I got bogged down in all the little details.

Should my “wallpaper” go all the way to the floor, or will that be a waste of fabric?  Will it even show beneath the desk area?  Do I really have to go to the trouble of matching the patterns and wrapping the “wallpaper” all the way around the closet?  Should the shelves go on the side so that they don’t cover up too much of the “wallpaper”?

I had myself so frustrated over the details, that I just put the whole project out of my mind.  But now, I have clarity!  I have vision!

Jen only put the wallpaper on the back wall, and then painted the side walls.  I love that idea!  I also really like how she has the shelves on the back wall, and yet you can still see plenty of wallpaper.  I was afraid that if I did that, they would cover up too much of the “wallpaper” (I’m actually using fabric), and then that money would have been wasted.  But that’s not the case at all!  And then all of the little organizational items she has on the side wall are actually decorative as well.

So now, I have vision for my little cloffice (clewing room?), not only for the big picture, but also for the little details.  I wish I could hug Jen’s neck right now!!!  Thank you, Jen, for this gorgeous inspiration!!

Now I can finally move beyond this stage…

Do any of you feel like you’re in a creative slump lately?  I’m no stranger to creative slumps, but generally they last maybe a day or two for me.  This one seems to be lingering for an especially long time, and it’s getting really frustrating.  Hopefully I’m nearing the other end of this dark creativity-free tunnel.  Perhaps working on my clewing room is just what I need for the floodgates to be re-opened once again.

Let’s hope.

By the way, did you notice my new little slideshow feature at the top of the right column?  Thanks so much to Shannon at Madigan Made for including the tutorial in her must read list of ten techie tutorials for the average blogger.  If you’re a blogger, you should definitely check out that list!

  1. I've seen that office a million times on Pinterest! I'm in the planning stages of my own cloffice right now, too. I'm trying to spend as little as possible using odds and ends around the house, we'll see how it turns out!

  2. I am so glad you found that blog–it is one of my absolute favorites!!  If I had a closet to turn into an office I would make one just like that in a heartbeat.  I can't wait to see what all she does with her new office she is making in her basement.  If you're like me and my sister you'll sit for hours just to catch up on all she has done!

  3. I had no idea you could limit a search to just blogs!! Thank you for sharing this little tidbit. I often search images only, but blogs…that's genius!!  Can't wait to see how your cloffice turns out. You've got a cute start!

  4. I love the swing arm lamp idea.  I wish I could do something like this for my scrapbooking, but I need my closets.  🙁  Can't wait to see your finished product.  🙂

  5. I am always surprised when you say that you're experiencing a lack of motivation/inspiration….you always seem so exceptionally inspiring to me!

  6. I didn't know that either! How do you limit the search, exactly? So if you just go to Google or whatever, what do you type in to the search box????

  7. Oh, I can't believe y'all didn't know you can do this!  I love searching blogs.

Just go to google.com, and along the very top menu bar, you'll see items such as web, images, videos, maps, news, etc.  There's an option that says "more", and it'll give you a drop down menu, and one of the options on it is "blogs".  Then from there, you can search by time, such as "last 24 hours" or "past month" or "past year", and you can even enter a custom date range.  I love it, and use it all the time!
