My Finished Closet (With A Video!)
My closet is finally finished, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. All along the way, I took photos of each step so I could do a kind of “time lapse” video with the photos. Take a look! (Be kind…this is my very first YouTube video, so it’s not the best, but it’s decent.)
For those of you who can’t (or don’t want to) watch a video, here are a couple of pictures for you…
I got the baskets at Michael’s, and they were 40% off. I added some metal numbers from Home Depot. I also got the large laundry basket from Michael’s…also 40% off. The sheers are from Target, and were $19.99 per panel. I know I’m a big ‘ole drapery snob, and never use ready-mades, but sheers are the exception. These are my favorites. They’re 100% cotton, rather than that shiny polyester stuff. I found the little silver bird at JoAnn Fabrics, and just couldn’t pass it up…especially since it was 40% off. The drapery hardware, drawer pulls, and pendant light are all from Home Depot.
I’m just so pleased with how it turned out. Now I can sit here in my bed, lean against my pretty headboard, and look at my beautiful finished closet. Oh, I’m sure it’ll change a bit once I start loading things into it…shoes, t-shirts, extra bedding, etc. But for at least one more day, I’m going to just enjoy it as is.
Here’s one last before and after:
Now that’s a night and day difference, huh?

Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
I love it. The funny thing is, when I first looked at the picture, I think wow, I love the dresser. Then when I watched the video, those drawers are the exact same stackable drawers I have in my own closet. BUT..YOU ARE THE SMART ONE, you have set them on legs and added new hardware and it looks like a molding of sorts. Mine could be your before picture. It looks very nice and it makes your smile. Great job.
Beautiful! I love having curtains covering my closet instead of doors. They're much prettier, and make it much easier to get things from the closet.
Earl Grey – a little blog full of big inspiration!
Well done!
Oh my goodness! That's so rad!! Love it so much. VERY good job! Now YOU get to enjoy it! I smiled throughout the whole video!

So, can you go into more detail as to how you secured the drawers on top of one another and how you did your shelving? LOVE it all!

That turned out great, Kristi! I love how custom it is (and so pretty!).
Wonderful, I love the inside closet color, I never would of thought to use a color inside the closet! I always use white for some reason. I may just have to borrow this color idea if you don't mind?
That is one beautiful closet!!! I love the softness the drapes add. Love the colors in there. Nice work!!!!

You did a wonderful job. I may just have to duplicate your idea on the drawers.
WOW, thanks for sharing the final product.
Adorable!!! :o)
Ta da! wonderful video. You even got the wallpaper and chair rail up, it looks beautiful! Just love how it all turned out.
Oh, if that is the teaser, I can't wait to see the finished room…AMAZING. I always find having a pretty space inspires me and my clients to be neater, too. I just made a shower curtain and used your tutorial for the liner…thanks for always having great ideas.
WOW! That is quite the transformation! Good Job, I love it! Thanks for sharing. Visiting from TT&J.

Love the colors you chose. What a great idea to use a chest of drawers in the closet!
So pretty you could leave the curtains open! 🙂
Oooooh! Pretty! I love it and the light makes it look so… I don't what word I'm looking for… pretty!?!!

i love the panels framing the doorway! I just might do that with our closet!
This is a closet that I would love to do in my sons room, well I would like in all of my rooms. Can you tell me what the shelves are made of? They look more sturdy than just pieces of plywood and what kind of drawers did you use? Great ideas, like them very much

Hi Kristi,
The closet looks great!! I am so impressed by how creative and gifted you are with everything…just amazing!!
I am helping my daughter in law and son are expecting and want the closet in the nursery to be done like this one you did. Can you please tell me what kind of drawers did you use and where you got them, it look like a dresser. Did you put the legs on yourself?
I bought two sets of stackable drawers from Lowe’s. I added turned feet that I found at Home Depot.
