Pendant Light Follow-Up (Nighttime View Plus A Short Video)
Today is my birthday, and for some reason, that meant that I didn’t need to work yesterday. Don’t make me explain it. Somehow that made perfect sense in my mind yesterday. 😀 So that means that I didn’t make any progress at all on my desk. But I’m excited to get some work done on it today and tomorrow.
In the meantime, I shared my finished pendant light in yesterday’s post, and a few people asked to see the pendant light at night. Before last night, I hadn’t seen it finished and on in the evening, either. I don’t know if I mentioned it in yesterday’s post, but I actually got up early yesterday morning and finished adding the spoons to the last two rows of the pendant light. It took me about an hour-and-a-half to finish yesterday morning, and then I took pictures and wrote yesterday’s post. So I hadn’t even had a chance to see what the light looked like turned on in the evening.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. The light is made of 1700 painted wood pieces. Light doesn’t exactly shine through wood, so I couldn’t imagine that looking like anything special with the light turned on at night. But I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised! It actually looks pretty amazing at night! I wasn’t expecting that at all!
First, here’s a picture of the light turned on with the main ceiling lights in the studio turned on as well. It’s hard to tell that the pendant light is even turned on except that the middle glows a little yellower than it does with the light turned off.
But then I turned off the main lights, leaving the pendant light as the only light turned on in the room, and that’s when the magic happened.
I couldn’t believe how pretty it looked! I was genuinely shocked, and I was also very pleased with the amount of light it put out. The only time I use this light is when I’m sitting at my desk at night or in the early morning while working at my computer, so I don’t need a really bright task light. I just need soft light so that my computer screen isn’t the only thing glowing. This puts out the perfect amount of light for that.
I wish all of you could actually stand in the room and see it. In person, it has a glow to it that isn’t captured in a photo.

Happy Belated Birthday, Kristi, and many more! I have to admit that the pendant light didn’t really impress me when turned off, but, as you said, magic happens when it’s turned on! Wow! I think I’d have to leave it on all the time, lol. What’s next for the studio?

That is the most beautiful light I’ve ever seen. Just makes me want to touch it to hear how those spoons sound.
