30 DIY Decorative Pillow Tutorials

make 'em yourself and save loads of cash

Do you ever get stumped on seemingly easy decorating decisions? I do, and lately I’ve been trying to decide what pillows I want to use on my banquette in my little dining area. I don’t want them to clash with my new(ish) chevron dining table, but I definitely need some pillows just to finish the area and give some color and texture to my white banquette.

In the process of trying to decide what will work for my dining area, I’ve come across some pretty amazing DIY decorative pillow tutorials, so I thought I’d pass along some of my absolute favorites to you! I hope you find these as inspiring as I did!

  1. Ohhhhh I am so going to have to make that peacock pillow! It’s divine! Love all the tutorials! I have the sewing know-how and tons of fabric but lack the time most days to sew 4 full sides to create a whole pillow LOL so I made some outdoor pillows by grabbing some placemats at Pottery Barn Outlet and opening up a tiny seam and shoving some stuffing inside, took all of 2 minutes to sew them back up which I managed to squeeze in even if I should have been doing something else ;)

  15. This is a great round-up! I love decorative pillows, but they’re so darn expensive to buy. I’ve made several pillows from drop-cloth fabric–I wash it with bleach first, and it softens nicely. You might like my PB knock-off with buttons (http://www.impartinggrace.com/2010/08/inspired-by-pottery-barn-part-2.html); another is a “Give thanks” pillow (http://www.impartinggrace.com/2011/11/give-thanks-pillow-tutorial.html). Aren’t you kind to invite people to leave links to their own projects? It’s so nice to think that someone wants me to share a project of my own. Thank you!
