What are two of my absolute favorite things? Draperies and wide horizontal stripes. Combine the two, and you’ve got a real showstopper in my opinion.
That’s why I couldn’t resist when I saw this drapery makeover from The Yellow Cape Cod.
Aren’t those gorgeous?! They started out very nice…but kind of plain compared to the “after”.
You might be surprised to learn that this transformation didn’t require any sewing! Nope, just some black twill fabric attached to the draperies with Heat ‘N Bond fusible tape, and some grosgrain ribbon to cover the raw edges.
Such a simple idea, with HUGE impact!

Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.

January 18, 2011 at 6:35 pmI'm a long time lurker and window treatments are getting the best of me. The problem is that I have a 7'x6' dark brown aluminum window with colonial grid and would love a large scale colorful modern floral or geometric pattern but worry the grid and the drapes will be competing against each other.
