A New Plan For An Old Table
I’ve already shared this info on the A2D Facebook Fan Page, but I’m just so excited about it, that I wanted to share it here too!
I have found the PERFECT dining table. And the best thing is that I already own it! It just needs a bit of work.
Here’s what my table looks like now:
And while I love my little table, it’s just not quite working in the space.
So here’s the plan:
I’m going to adhere a thin sheet of cabinet-grade plywood to the top, followed by 2-inch wood veneer edgebanding around the edges, trimmed perfectly with a little handy trimmer.
And after a little stain and sealer, it’ll end up looking something like this:
I’m also going to take my table base to a powder coating place, where they will sand blast the base (which is currently spray painted) and powder coat it in a fresh, DURABLE, coat of white, for the bargain price of $30!!
I’m so excited about this plan. I’ll still be able to keep the table base that I love (and that I found for $15), and the combo of the white metal base and the stained top is the perfect middle ground between modern and traditional.
I called around locally and was told that Lowe’s has everything I need for this project. Yay! If they really do have it (I have my doubts about the 2″ edgebanding, so we’ll see), then I’m going to start on this project this weekend…or maybe tonight! I’m a little excited. Can you tell? 🙂
Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
It's perfect that you have what you wanted right under your nose! Didn't you just recently put in all that work into that table? Too bad it doesn't work the way it is. Also I'm so thrilled that you went with white buttons and no tufting for your banquet – one of my two suggestions for it (the other one was white buttons, square tufting). It looks amazing!
Sounds like a good plan 🙂 It'll be so much easier to place after it's redone.
That will look great!
