Remember a few weeks back when I told you the tale of a very difficult client? And do you remember the change we were about to make in her home?
Ahhh, yes. The installation of hardwood flooring. Well, it is now finished, and the results are nothing short of spectacular! It’s absolutely amazing how hardwood flooring warms up a room. There’s really nothing quite like it! For her house, we selected a gorgeous mahogony wood (the real thing…no laminate here) in a wide plank. Here are a few before and after pics.

The flooring also extends into the adjacent formal living room, which I forgot to show you before. Oops!

I’m so pleased with how the floors turned out. Now we move to the task of finding the perfect area rugs. It’s almost a shame to cover up such beautiful wood floors, though!

Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.

December 1, 2009 at 2:37 pmLove the wide planks! The whole space has really come together and the floors are a definite improvement. I'm looking forward to finding out what rugs you put down – they will really help to define the seating areas.

Being an Interior Designer myself, I was pleased to see your last statement – about selecting the right area rugs. They will make ALL the difference in the world. Not too big now! I know you know they will help to anchor the spaces.
Can't wait to see!!

December 1, 2009 at 9:01 pmGood job making that monster television less obtrusive. Now if you can just convince them to get rid of the clock over the fireplace.

December 1, 2009 at 9:09 pmNot gonna happen, Karen Anne. I picked out the clock for them, and I love it (as do they). To each his own.

December 4, 2009 at 5:44 amOOOOOOOOOOH my GOD! I am not into redecorating, since I dont own a home to decorate in the first place 🙁 , but this is AMAZING! The before and after photos are unbelieveable, I cant even imagine that the same family lived in these two different places, they are soo OPPOSITE and it really shows how an everyday/ everyone living room (since this is exactly how pretty much everyone i knows house looks) can be transformed into a page out of a magazine! I would NEVER be able to think of all that detail, I must be missing the interior decorating portion of my brain… by the way I LOVE the clock, its actually something my husband would love, Everytime we go to the sotres he looks at those big clocks for when we have a house and money ha. NICE JOB!
