Picture Perfect 126-Square-Foot Victorian Cottage

When I came across this tiny Victorian cottage, I was absolutely blown away. It is absolutely one of the most picture-perfect things I’ve ever seen. And since I’m not a huge fan of shabby chic design, that’s pretty amazing!

This little cottage belongs to Sandra Foster. It has no bathroom or kitchen, so it’s not her home. But it is her cherished retreat, and she created it with her own two hands. You see, it started out as a plain 9′ X 14′ hunting cabin, but she transformed it into her dream.

“It was like coming home.
I get tears in my eyes thinking about it.
It was everything I had dreamed of,
in every novel I had read, every song I had heard.”
~Sandra Foster
See the step at the door?  It’s a drawer that holds tools.
Absolutely picture-perfect, wouldn’t you agree? She created much of it with salvaged and thrift items. To see more pictures, click here to see the slideshow.

Wouldn’t you love to have a retreat like this?! I sure would! I’m not sure how I would decorate it, though. It wouldn’t be shabby chic, but I could definitely see me using pink (which I can’t use in my condo, per Matt’s request), and lots of feminine touches.
How about you? What would be your picture-perfect retreat?

  1. This is perfect, and beautiful, and very clever. Love the books all the way to the ceiling. Just think what she do if she moved in another room for kitchen and bathroom. I would do birch trees and wolves. What a great idea.
