The Absolute Best Anti-Aging, Anti-Wrinkle Product I’ve Ever Used

Y’all, I meant to include this information in my post yesterday so that I could keep all of my health information in one monthly post, but I got in a hurry (it was Wednesday and I was on my way to meet my mom and bonus sister for lunch), and I completely forgot to include this. Anyway, if you missed my health/weight loss/2024 resolution update for the month of April, you can check that out here.

But in addition to the whole no sugar, weight loss, getting healthy progress I’ve made, I also started using the absolute best anti-aging, anti-wrinkle product that I’ve ever used, and I had to pass along this information. I know I’m not a lifestyle/wellness blog, and I never intend to turn this blog into that kind of thing. But I also know how much we women tend to spend on creams, potions, pills, collagen powders, etc., in an effort to turn back the hands of time (especially as time marches across our faces and leaves its boot prints behind as evidence 😀 ), so I didn’t want to forget to pass this along to you.

Let me back up a bit. At the beginning of this year, I was getting so unbelievably discouraged with my skin, and specifically the skin on my face, neck and chest. I mean, I know that I turned 50 years old last June, but it’s like I was starting accumulate a year’s worth of aging every month. I was getting so unbelievably discouraged seeing the wrinkles become more pronounced on my forehead, the crepe-like wrinkled skin under my eyes, etc.

I was buying every cream and potion that any influencer on Instagram told me I needed, and while most of them would work immediately to plump up my skin and diminish the look of the thin, crepe-like, wrinkled skin, nothing had any lasting effects that lasted more than a couple of hours.

Let me show you what I’m talking about. And just a warning, you’re about to see way more close-up pictures of my face with no makeup than you ever wanted to see. 😀 But let me start at the beginning of this year. This was me on January 28th of this year.

My face was definitely puffier then than it is now because I’ve lost 25.5 pounds since then. But I’m not talking about the puffy face. What got me down was mainly the dry, wrinkled, crepe-like skin is under my eyes. And I am, and have always been, a person who piles moisturizer on my face because my skin has always been so dry. Since I like natural products, I’ve always used coconut oil as my moisturizer. But when I started seeing this dry, wrinkled skin under my eyes at the beginning of this year, I also started buying products marketed specifically for use on that skin under the eyes. But nothing that I tried had lasting effects.

Here’s a close-up from that picture above. Even though I was constantly moisturizing, my skin always looked dry. And my goodness, that under eye area was really getting me discouraged.

And so that people don’t think it’s just a bad picture, or just bad lighting, or I was just really tired that one time, I’ll show you more pictures taken at other times in different lighting. Here’s another picture from January 31st. Again with the eyes. Ugh.

I was very glad that I wore glasses because at least that camouflaged the wrinkles some, but even at that, there was no hiding what was going on under my eyes. Even with my glasses on, my eyes were always looking so tired and old.

Even with the glare on my glasses (because I forgot to order them with the non-glare coating), there was no camouflaging this.

I had started using two different products pretty religiously at the beginning of the year. (Actually, one of them I started last summer after being influenced by an influencer. 😀 ) Here’s the “progress” after using one of those for months, and the other one for about a month. I took this picture when Matt was in the hospital at the beginning of February. I had hoped to see more progress after adding that second product, so this picture was really discouraging to me.

Here’s a closeup of my eyes from that picture above. I don’t really see any difference at all from using those products.

So at some point after Matt got out of the hospital, my face started breaking out at the corners of my mouth, and I started getting redness and itching on my neck. So with all of the issues I was dealing with, from the dry, crepe-like, wrinkled skin to the breakouts to the itchy red spots on my neck, I was throwing everything I could think of at my skin, from coconut oil and tallow for the dry, wrinkled skin, to Benadryl cream for the itchy redness on my neck, and all of the creams I had purchased.

When none of those were really working, I finally asked myself, “What do I have that I haven’t tried yet?” I went searching through my cabinets, and I came across one thing I hadn’t tried…castor oil.

I had purchased castor oil and a castor oil pack after I started following a lymphatic specialist on Instagram. She recommends castor oil packs for all kinds of things, and I had been using mine over my liver each night. And while I had read quite a bit about the amazingness of castor oil (if you haven’t looked into it, I highly recommend it), and I knew it to be useful for a very wide range of issues, I wasn’t sure about putting it on my face and neck. But I decided to give it a try anyway. It’s pretty thick stuff, so it’s not something that I would ever try to put on my face as a daily moisturizer before putting on makeup to go somewhere. But I started using it at night before bed. Each night after I prepared my castor oil pack and put it on, I’d put a bit of castor oil on my fingers and rub it all over my face and neck.

Y’all, I could not believe the change! I was seeing very noticeable differences in my skin in less than two weeks. That picture above that I took when Matt was in the hospital was taken on February 6th. This picture below was taken on February 22nd.

I know I look frightening. 😀 I had been working in the studio and was taking an afternoon Sonic break, so my hair was a mess. But that is my face with no makeup after less than two weeks of using castor oil on my face every night before bed.

Here’s a close up from the photo just above.

Here’s another picture just a couple of weeks later. This one is March 2nd.

Here’s another closeup…

And here’s one from this morning, May 2nd, about 45 minutes after I woke up.

And another close up…

I mean…y’all!!! I have bought SO MANY products over the last year to help with my skin. And the thing that gave me the most remarkable results was castor oil! Not only is it the most moisturizing thing that I’ve ever put on my face and neck, but it cleared up the red itchy patches, and has also done amazing things for the skin on my neck and chest, which had also started looking crepey and wrinkly. But unfortunately, I haven’t been taking progression pictures of my skin in those areas. My eyes are what made me the most self-conscious, so that’s what I’ve been tracking with progress pictures.

So let’s go back through all of those closeups so you can see the difference without my commentary between the pictures…

I know that all you can do is take my work for it (not only my word that these results came from castor oil, but also my word that I haven’t retouched any of the above photos), and people are generally pretty skeptical about claims regarding skin care, anti-wrinkle, anti-aging products, but I’m not even here to sell you anything. I mean, I’ll give you the link to the exact castor oil that I use, and it is an affiliate link.

But my results don’t have anything to do with the brand of castor oil that I use. You just want to make sure that it’s organic, cold pressed, hexane-free, and comes in a glass bottle. (Don’t use castor oil from a plastic bottle!!) So I’m not married to a specific brand of castor oil. I just want to pass along this information so that others can know the amazingness of castor oil. I’ll use any brand that meets those specifications. But I can assure you that I will be using castor oil on my face every single night for the rest of my life, and I will never be suckered into buying another expensive anti-aging miracle cream from another influencer or sparkly Instagram ad ever again.

I can’t get over this…

    1. Ugh…I knew someone was going to ask me that! And I can’t remember her name. Hmmm…let me see if I can find her. If I do, I’ll add the info. I can see her face in my mind clear as day, but her name escapes me. Let me see what I can find.

    2. Vee — I’m chiming in to say that I follow a doctor named Perry Nickelston. He has a “Big 6” Routine that I have recently incorporated into my daily morning routine. He gives lots of helpful information on Youtube and on his podcast (I don’t really use Instagram, but he might be there). I knew nothing about the lymph system, the sewage system of the body. I am becoming better informed, and better aware of the need to keep the lymphatic system healthy and functioning well. https://youtu.be/JlgqllPKQUA?si=ELYhWKRS9P8R_X7r

  1. I am very impressed (and I am not easily impressed). The natural “remedies” our parents and grandparents used prove to be as good or better than all the modern, trending products out there. I just ordered a bottle. Wish me luck. I hope it works as well for me as it does for you!

    1. My feelings exactly! My eyes look like the before pics! 😳 I’m excited to give this a try! Good luck to you, too! 😁

  2. That is quite something….I Just purchased castor oil yesterday for another reason and I’m going to start using it under my eyes. Thanks so much….and I’m going to take a photo right now. Thanks so much.

  3. WOW! Now that’s a difference. I’m 75. Forget about the boots of time. I’m dealing with the marks left by an M1 Abrams tank!
And Castor Oil is Soooo EXPENSIVE! LOL!
    Going to try this tonight!

  4. Your skin is so beautiful and what the castor oil did for your eye area is incredible! Thanks for sharing this.

  5. The results are amazing! Do you use any other moisturizer at all? What is your morning routine? Wash your face, use regular moisturizer, then makeup? Thank you so much for posting this!

    1. My skin care routine now is pretty minimal. Every single night, I wash my face with warm/hot water. I don’t use any products. Just water and a not-so-soft washcloth that will kind of exfoliate my skin. As I said, my skin is pretty dry, so I always have flaky skin that I need to exfoliate. After washing my face, I put castor oil all over my face, neck, and chest, and go to bed.

On mornings when I don’t have anywhere to go (which is most mornings), I don’t really do anything with my face except add a tiny bit more castor oil to one very specific area on my neck that has been a problem area for me since last year. Long story, but I did something that damaged the texture of my skin on my neck, and while the castor oil has helped tremendously, I still have one small problem area patch of skin that I’m still working on and concentrating on keeping moisturized throughout the days when I’m home.

On mornings when I have to go somewhere, I’ll shower and wash my face with Dove soap. That’s the only soap I’ve used on my face for as long as I can remember. After my shower, I immediately moisturize my face with tallow. Castor oil is way too thick and oily to use on my face if I’m going to wear makeup. So any time I plan to wear makeup, I moisturize with tallow instead. I use Kushi Whipped Tallow Cream before putting on makeup. And that’s it! I’ve cut out all other products, and those are the only two moisturizers I use these days — castor oil every night, castor oil every morning on that one problem area on my neck, and tallow if I’m needing to leave the house and want to wear makeup.

  6. Ordering castor oil right now! I too have been following a lymphatic drainage doc on instagram and have heard her tout the benefits of castor oil. I wasn’t too sure about it, but after seeing your results….you can consider me influenced! LOL!

  7. Cutting out the sugar has a ton to do with it . I notice my skin always looks way better when I’m eating cleaner. Just in my experience.

  8. Thank you for sharing this! I have also lost a great deal of weight in the past year, and I have also been looking at my aging eye area. I bought castor oil for another reason, but will be trying this as well. You look great, I am sure you are feeling better too. I know getting off the sugar and dropping 52 pounds has been great for my energy and how I feel. Congrats, keep up the good work! You look awesome!

  9. My acupuncturist recommended it for my chronic foot pain. I massage castor oil in twice a day and it has been life changing. He also said he has used it on his skin his whole life and it was the only product he found as a teenager to cure his acne. Hooray for natural products!

    1. I also forgot to follow up. I ordered that cervical pillow you recommended and I cannot believe how much it has helped my headaches, neck pain. Thank you! Thank you!

  10. My mother had 3 children, each born 3-4 weeks late. And no, she didn’t calculate incorrectly. She had a masters degree in education and was very intelligent. During a check up at the end of each pregnancy her doctor told her to take castor oil to induce labor. While pregnant with my younger brother, she had a cleaning person who was coming the day after her doctor’s appointment. She waited until after the cleaning person left to take the castor oil. Each of us siblings was born within 24 hours of taking the castor oil! It’s the only thing my mother ever used castor oil for.

    1. Laura, I took castor oil to induce labor for my second pregnancy. It was so, so very gross. My labor started soon after taking it, though. I am convinced that the sheer grossness of it and the gag reflex is what started the labor. Ugh.

Did you know that people used to punish children by making them drink castor oil? That’s just horrible. I will try it for my face, though!
      Kristie, your skin looks amazing!

    2. Heh heh heh… I drank castor oil with juice (as recommended by my midwife) to kickstart the labor with my last kid. It was like drinking juicy salad dressing…eww. It had a laxative effect which started contractions….

More commonly I use it on my skin in an oil-based face cleanser I’ve been making for 10 plus years. Wow! Best, simplest skincare routine. My skin feels soft and is clear…wonder if it would’ve helped with my pimples as a teen.

For those wondering, I do 1 pt castor oil to one part grapeseed oil (or jojoba and grapeseed) and add several drops of essential oils like lavender, lemon and tea tree.

You can also do rose essential oil, or orange, or peppermint.…and use olive oil or coconut oil as the base. Research “oil skin cleanser” and try the blend that works for your skin type. I can get all the ingredients at the health food store.

  11. I recently began using castor oil on my eyebrow area as it’s touted as being good for hair regrowth. It’s too soon to see results yet but I’ve been working it in all around my eyes too, mixing it with Skin Envy oil. Your skin transformation is amazing. Go you!

    1. It works for that as well! My eyebrows are thicker and darker, and my eyelashes are thicker and longer. It’s amazing stuff! I want to start using it in my hair, but I keep forgetting.

  12. I am going to give this a try. I have deep wrinkles on my forehead and dry nasty looking skin on my chest and neck. Thank you.

  13. Quoting Kristi, “But my results don’t have anything to do with the brand of castor oil that I use. You just want to make sure that it’s organic, cold pressed, hexane-free, and comes in a glass bottle. (Don’t use castor oil from a plastic bottle!!)” Comments on using castor oil…Kristi specified what to look for when using castor oil.
Kristi, your results are great, I, too, have dry flakes on skin and have had eczema in the past. I have to be careful what I use on my skin and have faithfully used MT emu cream. I want to carefully try the castor oil, may be too late as I am much older than you.
My daughter bought the pillows for us, we like them. Think of you and Matt prayerfully.

  14. Another amazing side effect I have had with castor oil is LONGER EYELASHES! Double bonus! Make sure to get some right at the base of your lash hairs!

    1. Yes! My eyelashes are definitely longer and thicker! I used to have very short, thin eyelashes, and they would fall out so easily all the time. About three or four weeks after I started using the castor oil, I was putting on my makeup, and when I started putting on my mascara (which I always dreaded because of my pathetic eyelashes), I was like, “Wait! What is going on with my eyelashes! They’re long! And thick!” It took me a few seconds to conclude that it was the castor oil. I was amazed!

Also, my eyebrows are thicker and darker. It used to take an eyebrow pencil to make my eyebrows look like they look naturally now.

  15. Beautiful results! I wonder if it’s the kind of oil or just the properties of any oil to seal in moisture. Neutrogena used to make a delightful sesame oil that I only used on my legs but I have looked it up and reviewers say it’s not the same anymore

    1. I think it’s specifically castor oil. If you go to YouTube and search for castor oil benefits, it’s as close as you can come to a magical elixir. 😀 Like a miracle in a bottle. I’ve used oils (mostly coconut oil, but also others) all of my adult life, and nothing has ever come close to the benefits of castor oil.

  16. Wow! Your skin looks beautiful! I just ordered some thanks to you. I hope it works as well for me as it has for you. So you only apply it only at night? Do you use it only in certain areas of you face/ncek or on your eye lids too?

    1. I use it on my entire face, including my eyelids, as well as my neck and chest. I use it only at night, except for one specific problem area on my neck where I apply it every morning as well. But I only apply it to my entire face, neck, and chest once a day, and I do that right before bed.

  17. I recently started using castor oil for other reasons but I am excited to try on my eyes now. You look great!

For what it’s worth, I have been putting castor oil in my hair about 15 to 30 minutes (only once a week) before I wash it. My hair has been SO much healthier. I have thick hair. It’s over processed from coloring and damaged from heat gadgets. It was lacking moisture bad. I’ve tried many (expensive) argan/keratin oils but none of them have improved the quality of my hair like Castor oil has.

I also suffer from planters fasciitis so I rub castor on my feet at night. Not only do I get some relief but it has made my calloused feet super soft.

I’m just amazed and I hope it can help someone else as well.

    1. I’ve been wanting to try that! I saw a before and after of a woman’s hair that was absolutely remarkable, and she said she used castor oil, jojoba oil, and rosemary essential oil. I’ve never gotten into the whole essential oil thing, but after seeing her results, I’m certainly tempted to try! Her hair looked like it had doubled in thickness in five months.

  18. OMG!! I’m sold. I’m 72 and believe me the difference in now and 15 years ago is massive. My eyes need this stuff. (and BTW, I have always thought you had nice skin.) Off to your Amazon link.

  19. My under eye area looks terrible, wrinkled, crepey plus huge dark circles. I’d definitely love to try this but my concern is that even at the age of 49, my skin is oily and prone to breakouts. I put NOTHING on my skin, no moisturizer, almost never wear makeup, sunscreen only when I absolutely have to – I know that’s pretty bad but everything makes me break out! The only upside is that I don’t really have wrinkles, except under my eyes. Does anyone know how castor oil works on oily skin? I’m going to research it myself but just wondering if anyone has experience.

Oh, and I also have plantar fasciitis- I’ll definitely try it on my feet!

  20. WOW, Kristi!!
You are an inspiration in MANY ways 😃😍
Thank you for sharing all your secrets with us 😘❤️

  21. Kristi, what does it do to your sheets and pillow cases? I’ve used castor oil in the past when I did some oil cleansing and I know it’s THICK and OILY. My skin is combination dry/oily and I like minimalist, simple beauty routines. Natural is a bonus. I’m currently positive that it would help my dry patches but give me a pain in the laundry room as a trade off (no thank you).

    1. Ahhh, yes. It will definitely get on sheets and pillow cases. I’m exclusively a back sleeper, so it’s much less of a problem for me, but I still manage to get some of it on my sheet and pillow case.

BUT, I’ve learned that if I add Dawn dishwashing liquid when I wash my sheets, blanket, the shirt I sleep in, or the sweater I wear when I sit in bed and watch TV before bed every night, it comes out without any problems. I have a new front load washer, and I use regular liquid laundry detergent, but just add quite a bit of Dawn directly inside the washer for my “oily” laundry before I close the washer and turn it on. It works great, only requires about five seconds of additional work, and my sheets, blanket, shirt and sweater come out oil-free every time.

  22. Thank you so much for the info on castor oil. The difference in your pictures was amazing! And it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than all the eye creams out there. Can’t wait to give it a try!

  23. I too am a castor oil FAN!! i use a little on the back of my knees each evening – rub it in – and the clicking when going up stairs has gone.
Also started with a little under my armpits at night – all BO smell – GONE!!! or massively reduced.
    CONSISTENCY IS KEY.
I mix it with organic Rosehip oil 50/50 for an easier to apply, and less thick oil for my face – but everywhere else gets full CO.
Packs are so awesome for your liver, or put a few drops in your belly button at night and that will soak in and allegedly go where your body needs it.
    hope that helps others xx
    it’s incredible stuff.

  24. Wow, this sounds great. My son was just telling me about the benefits of using castor oil, for skin, hair, liver, etc. I was very surprised when I read your post. I need to start using this. My face has sun damage all over it, and my body too. I was a sun bather in the 50- 60’s, so lots of skin cancer. Hope this works to help with this. My son is a Mason, and has concrete dust settling on him daily. He is being challenged with skin damage too. Who knew my son would be giving me beauty advice, lol. Thank you Kristi for being so transparent, your eye area has improved so beautifully. Basic is better.

  25. There is a woman, that I get emails from . This young woman, leads a simple life with hubby & four kids. And she has been using castor oil for awhile. People laugh when I tell them what I use.

    1. There’s not really any way I can know how much I’ve specifically used on my face and neck because, while I’ve gone through probably three bottles this year so far, I would imagine that the bulk of that was used on my castor oil pack that I use over my liver. I also used the castor oil pack when my sciatic nerve pain started coming back, so I would wear the pack all day every day. I also got Matt a castor oil pack, and used the same bottle(s) of oil on him. And then for a period of about two weeks, I was also trying castor oil on my arms to see if I it would perhaps tighten up my “bat wings”. 😀 All that to say that I use (and have used) castor oil for SO many thing, so while I’ve gone through about three bottles so far this year (I’m finishing up my third bottle right now, and probably have enough for another week for my face and neck), I would guess than a small percentage of that was actually used on my face and neck.

  26. I appreciate you sharing this so much! I am turning 40 soon and so this is something that has been more on my mind lately. I will definitely be giving this a try.

About the flaky skin, I also had an issue with that for a long time and it almost completely went away when I started using an apple cider vinegar rinse every time I washed my hair. I haven’t done the rinse in a long time, but the flakiness on my face is still almost non-existent. I recently saw an Instagram reel that talked about that flakiness on the face and that it isn’t actually dry skin, it is a fungal thing similar to what causes dandruff. I really think that is why it went away for me with the apple cider vinegar rinse. (My rinse was ACV with a blend of essential oils including rosemary, tea tree, frankincense, and whatever else I would have on hand. I would put a couple tablespoons of this rinse and mix it with about a half to one cup of water in a squirt bottle and put it all over my scalp at the end of my shower. Just in case anyone is interested.)

  27. Hi Kristi, oh my gosh, you look amazing, truly. BTW: you look like you have great skin. I’m trying this, thanks!

  28. I alternate between the castor oil at night & argan oil or argan milk during the day since it is a lighter oil that doesn’t mess with your makeup. I’m 73 and can’t live without these two miracle working products of mother nature.

    1. Good to know, Nancy. I’m 6 mo shy of 73 and I’m always on the hunt for a good daily face cream.

  29. Kristi this is amazing! I’m getting ready to order a smaller bottle to be sure I get results like yours. My next question is, what do you use during the day? In winter ( in Arizona ) I use Cera Ve or Cetaphil. In summer I switch to a lighter L’Oreal collagen face cream.
This is such an amazing difference. Thanks for keeping it real!

    1. If I’m wanting to wear makeup, I use Kushi Whipped Tallow Cream under my makeup. If I’m not leaving the house, and don’t want to wear makeup, I just stick with the castor oil. I almost never re-apply it on my face in the morning, but I almost always have areas on my face that still have quite a bit of oil remaining in the morning, so I just kind of use my fingers to redistribute the oil that’s already there.

  30. You look simply amazing and beautiful with or without wrinkles! Never apologize if your hair is a mess etc., you are one smart and hard working lady and you deserve praise for all of your endeavors. Thank you for posting this about the castor oil, now I got to get me some! However one question, what is a “pack”? Maybe I didn’t read it good enough (bad eyesight).

    1. You didn’t miss anything. I actually didn’t explain it. 🙂 A castor oil pack is a large rectangle of layers of fabric (generally organic cotton or other all natural fiber fabric) with an outside layer of some sort of waterproof fabric. It has straps that wrap around and secure the pack to the part of the body where you want the castor oil to stay. Here’s my affiliate link to the one I have. I put castor oil on the layer of fabric that sits against the skin, and then wrap it around my mid section with the pack over my liver. I’ve also used it on my back when I’ve had lower back trouble. And I used it on my hip when my sciatic nerve pain started coming back. It always helps. Castor oil is amazing stuff!

  31. Wow! That is just amazing! I have been doing a lot of research into castor oil recently and I knew from your headline that it would be castor oil. That before and after is amazing for such a short time. I ordered a litre of the stuff and I could hardly wait til it arrived. By the time it got here though I realized I had ordered one in a plastic bottle and when I found that the oil disintegrated the plastic bottle a bit at a time I knew I didn’t want to absorbing microplastics into my skin so I tossed it and now I’m waiting for the glass bottled product to arrive.
One thing I’m a bit concerned about is that one post suggested putting some on your upper eyelid and it would slowly be absorbed into your eyes and actually improve eyesight as well. Then I read another one that said put it all over your face and hair and eyebrows but don’t get any in your eyes.
Vision is something I never want to mess with but even after cataract surgery my sight cannot be improved anymore with glasses. I was really hoping it would be helped with the oil. Does anyone have any experience with that?
And BTW, congratulations Kristi on w5.5 pund weight loss. Woohoo!

    1. I rub it all over my eyes, and I don’t use any caution at all. I don’t haven’t had any problems from it, and a plus is that my floaters are almost 100% gone!

  32. This is amazing. I’m 45 and have recently been using castor oil on my face, aftee catching the sun this weekend on my chest Ihave noticed the wrinkles there too…I’m going to get on to putting it on the chest now…fingers crossed!

  33. Can I just say I love you Kristi, and you inspire me everyday. I hope I can meet you in person someday ☺️.
