The Bedroom Progress So Far (A Look At The Whole Room)
I’m still working on the draperies for the bedroom. I was hoping to get them done by the end of the week so that I could show you the room with the draperies on Friday. But I realized yesterday that it wouldn’t matter if I got them finished today because somehow, I miscalculated the number of curtain rings I needed for both the sheers and the draperies. I was four boxes short! (Math is hard for me. 🤣) I ordered those additional curtain rings yesterday, but they won’t even be here until Friday. So when I finish the draperies (hopefully today), I’ll move on to the next project, and I’ll have to show y’all the finished and installed draperies at the beginning of next week.
In the meantime, I got the room cleaned up yesterday and was really excited about the progress so far. So I thought I’d give you a quick look around at the room thus far. I’m well beyond the halfway point on this project, and it’s starting to really come together.
So here’s a quick tour of the room at this point. Keep in mind that the lamps will get a big makeover very soon with a new color and new lampshades…

Replacing the window on this wall with a door is one of my favorite things. I love not only the practicality of having a door in our bedroom just in case of an emergency, but I also love the look of it.

I had intended to do a wood finish on the little side table, but someone yesterday suggested that I paint it gold. I might do that instead. And the artwork that was supposed to arrive yesterday wasn’t delivered. *Sigh* It’s rescheduled for delivery today.

I still need to cover the attic access. I keep putting that off because it’s not a fun project. But of course, it has to be done.

Of course, it’s going to look quite different once I get the rest of the fabrics and soft furnishings in here. The headboard alone is going to make a huge difference. And the draperies are really going to bring some depth and texture to the windows and door. But overall, I’m so excited about how the room is turning out so far. It’s quite different from how it started out!

That’s quite a difference! It’s taken a lot of work to get from that before to the current room, and there’s still quite a bit of work to do. But I think I’m well on my way towards creating a very nice, comfortable, warm, welcoming bedroom for us.

The room is progressing nicely! I would move the lamps closer to the center of the nightstands. Viewing the photos gives me the feeling that they are going to fall off the edge. Guess that’s just an issue for me and not everyone.
Gosh, I’m so excited ! At what point are you going to move your bed and Matt back into the room ? Just curious.
I’ll at least get the draperies and headboard finished first. It would be easier to get those installed without having to work around a bed and Matt. Once those are done, I think we can move in, and then I can finish up the smaller decorative projects. I’d love to be moved in before I take my end-of-the-year break.
It’s very pretty! I love your taste and color choices throughout your home. And aways so impressed with your talents. Thank you for sharing with us and all of the inspiration!
I love the photo of Felicity walking into the room; it’s as if the birds took flight right at that moment!! It’s coming along so well. If you paid for expedited shipping’ and it didn’t arrive, you should be due a refund.
Hi, will the frosted film on the bathroom door ever be removed or is there for privacy? just curious…
Hmmmm…I hadn’t given it any thought! I’m not sure. I kind of like the privacy, but once we get moved into the room and actually live in it for a while, I might find that I can remove it. I’d love to have the view of the bedroom from the bathroom and vice versa.
It’s looking beautiful!!!
This is exciting!! I was surprised by how light and bright the room feels, perhaps because the photos were taken in the day or maybe because of the soft, white sheers. Anyways, the room is finally coming along nicely! Kudos, Kristi!
I look forward to having Coffee with Kristi daily. I am enjoying the changes as you move forward making a dream home. Thank mmm you for sharing!
I love that first photo particularly! Amazing how rugs, drapes, and lamps make a room look layered and inviting even without many furnishings. I like the white sheer curtains very well and forgot until the end that you are also doing dark velvet ones LOL. They look great as is.
Congratulations on the progress so far! It’s amazing to look around your bedroom and know that from the floor up, your skills and your design eye have touched almost everything in the room. Just one thing, why not just leave the little side table as it is? It sort of reflects the white birds on the long wall.
You’re probably not going to like this comment, but I don’t know how a perfectionist lives with those grasscloth misalignments. It all looks like jagged lines to me.
Do you have an affiliate link for your curtain rods and rings? I’d love to have that!
I do!

Thanks so much!
Love! Especially the birds! ❤️
It’s beautiful Kristi! Now it feels substantial in matching your bathroom and closet. Good on you. I love seeing the teal color of the grass cloth when the sun hits it. Does the chair turn a similar color when the sun is shining on it too? Will you be putting the same film on the door as your bathroom door?
I’m not sure! I think it’s too far in the corner so that sunlight won’t hit it.
I’m hoping that the door won’t need the privacy film. I think the sheers will take care of the privacy issue. I’ve been testing them out to see what it looks like at night with the lights on. I looks like they provide enough privacy.
Can you share the rug link again? It’s really a great rug and I want one 🙂 I didn’t see it on your source list
Love how it’s coming along, but I have a question- is there a reason that you made the sheers on the door that width? It seems a bit of overkill to me, but I don’t know why you chose to do them this wide. Maybe I’m missing something.
