There’s No Excuse For Your Outdated Lighting!

I went to Lowe’s yesterday. I seldom go to Lowe’s. I have no idea why or how my loyalty to Home Depot developed, but it’s there. Perhaps it’s because we have two Home Depots in the area, and it’s just so darn convenient. Perhaps it’s because Home Depot was here first, and I just got used to it. Perhaps it’s because when I’ve done price comparisons, Home Depot usually comes out a bit cheaper.

I don’t know. But what I do know is that in the lighting category, Lowe’s is always on top. They have more variety, better styles, and a larger in-store selection.

When I was there yesterday, I snapped some pics of my favorite chandeliers that I saw…and the prices are great!

Right off the bat, this little white glass chandelier caught my eye. I love that art deco vintage look. And $142 is a pretty decent price, don’t you think?

Now this has it all…style AND a great price. It’s only $99!! You could even add some fabric and trim to the shade to personalize it.

This one is my favorite. I love the glass and nickel combo, and I’m also intrigued with those shades on the lights. They’re all glass. A very unique and eye-catching design, and only $159.

So come on…no more excuses for sad outdated lighting.

  1. You are right…. love Lowe's lighting choices
AND the prices. I have a lamp shade I want to add a trim to. Do you suggest fabric glue, hot glue or something else????? I just want it to not only LOOK good but stay thay way.

  2. I would definitely NOT use hot glue. I've had good results with fabric glue on some items, and then on others it showed through, even when the glue was dried for 24 hours.

One product I really REALLY like is called Peel 'n Stick Fabric Fuse. It looks very similar to a roll of tape. In fact, that's what it is basically. It's incredibly sticky, and permanent. The only thing with it is that you only get one chance. If you don't apply it right the first time, it's virtually impossible to reposition.

I purchased it at JoAnn Fabrics.

  3. We have a Lowe's right around the corner and I go further out of my way to go to Home Depot. The Lowe's in our neighborhood have the rudest, most least helpful sales associates I have ever dealt with.

  4. Oh, Janet…I'm sorry to hear that! I used to have that experience here with Hobby Lobby.

  5. I LOVE the drum shade fixture you posted above, but haven't seen it at my Lowes and can't find it online. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough???? Help!!??

  6. Oh I wish there was a Lowes near here! I love that last light *so* much! It's exactly what I've been looking for.
I may have to travel a few hours to take a look at it in person.

  7. Thanks Kristi.. I questioned the use of hot glue when I saw it on one of the HGTV shows…. Really don't want to mess up the cool shade, so thanks for your info.

  8. I have Lowes and Home Depot both very convenient to my home and I have to admit that you are right about the lighting section. It is much better at my Lowes too. I have found some really great bargains there and purchased several light fixtures. I have actually been considering the third fixture you showed for a few months now but haven't bought anything yet.
