This has been a very productive week for me! The bottom portion of my built-in bookcase wall in my living room is almost finished. I got the lower portion trimmed, sanded, caulked, and primed yesterday. Hopefully today, I can paint (yes, I decided to go ahead and paint), and then I hope to move on to the upper bookshelves this weekend.
The downside? My living room…and really, my whole condo, is looking more like a disaster area every day. Seriously, this is what it looked like last night when I went to bed…
It looks like a tornado has moved through! I’ve got tools spread about, the old cabinets still sitting there, primed cabinet doors resting on anything that will hold them (including one of the thrift store chairs that I bought a few years ago and always planned on reupholstering but never got around to it).
Yep, I need to get this under control this weekend before I go mad!!
I hope to get a ton of work done this weekend, and have lots to show you on Monday. Until then, have a fantastic weekend!!

Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
I hope you’ll join me on my DIY and decorating journey! If you want to follow my projects and progress, you can subscribe below and have each new post delivered to your email inbox. That way you’ll never miss a thing!

May 3, 2013 at 11:23 amThanks for keeping it real Kristi! You would have been inundated with all of us clamoring to know your secrets had you showed us otherwise.

May 3, 2013 at 11:50 amNice to see the “truth” behind a remodel/makeover job! It’s always a mess till you pass the half-way point and it can be discouraging at times, even for a pro! I love how your cat (that is your cat?!) is right in the middle of the fray. I cannot count the number of times our cat has been painted during our own projects!

May 3, 2013 at 1:55 pmEverything looks great… as someone who has done projects, I am able to look away from the “mess” and at the real project…you are amazing!!! Excellent job! I’m so honored to be able to see your projects! 🙂

May 3, 2013 at 4:36 pmI think it’s great that you show the ‘tornado damage’ during the process. We all have gone through it but sometimes we forget that the professionals also have to endure the chaos, as well. It’s good to know that Mr. (or Ms.) Kitty is supervising your project! : )

May 3, 2013 at 6:31 pmThis got me thinking of your day 7 bathroom makeover post – “Do you have your “I can tell this will look amazing when it’s finished” goggles handy?” Got ’em! Your living room is going to be spectacular! Thanks for sharing your creativity and talent! 🙂

May 4, 2013 at 7:40 amI know the feeling, when I am in the middle of a project and supplies are everywhere it gives me the push to get things done. I have a tornado on my screened porch right now as I finish reupholstering the couches out there. That is my weekend project!!! Good luck
