Kitchen Cabinets: Progress Is Slow But Steady
I had an interesting weekend. On Friday morning, I woke up and tried to begin my normal routine–checking e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, keeping tabs on various projects for clients, blogging, etc. But instead of accomplishing all of those things, something terrible happened. I DIDN’T HAVE INTERNET!! After frantically calling my internet provider repeatedly, being transferred from one department to another, talking to several phone technicians, it was finally determined that nothing could be done right then, and a technician would have to come to my home to fix the problem. The earliest appointment? Sunday. Yes, it was Friday morning, and I would have to wait until SUNDAY!!! Oh dear.
After dealing with the shock, the panic, the crying, the shaking, the tremors, the cold sweats, the pacing the floor back and forth, back and forth (oh…I’m joking…there were no tremors), I finally realized that this would be a good opportunity for me to get away from the computer and get more work done on my cabinets. Again, I didn’t get nearly as much done as I thought I would (I kid you not. In my mind, I think I’m super woman. Reality is a cold-hearted witch.) But here’s my progress…
Remember, this is what I started with:
So after this:
And a little of this:
Followed by this:
A few beads of this:
And two coats of this:
This is the status of the project as of right now:
And yes, they are leaning up against my primed, unpainted wainscoting. That project is on the list, too.
Oh, and one of the new doors is stuck in there, playing “Where’s Waldo”. Can you tell which one? Of course you can. But just humor me and let me point it out to you:
It’s not a perfect match, but once they all have a couple of coats of paint on them, I think they’ll look pretty darn similar! In fact, the passive observer may not even notice a difference.
So, that’s my weekend. How was yours?

Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
Ugh. Computers are wonderful when they're working, but it's a panic and frustration when they aren't. Glad to see you back up and running!
Your cabinets are going to look amazing! I can't wait to see the reveal. 😉
Have a great week!

You'll be done soon enough – you're finished with the hard part. I had a great weekend, thanks for asking 🙂 I went to the horseraces in Lexington, KY & followed them by a Kings of Leon concert – we had so much fun.
Ohhh, horse races! That does sound like fun! And for the life of me, I can't think of what songs Kings of Leon sings. I'll have to Google. Sounds like a fun weekend! We had non-stop rain here, so definitely a good time to work on some projects indoors.
Wow–looking great–hope I'll get to see it when it is finished!
Great job! Can't wait to see your after pics!
You have solved my problem with my ugly cabinets! Cutting out a panel will work and get rid of the ugly grooves that are on each and every one. I will be able to put glass in some this way. Thanks for the inspiration. Jackie
Great job! Can't wait to see your after pics!
