The Finish Line IS In Sight!!

Good Monday morning to you!!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was simply wonderful.  We had the most gorgeous weather, so we kept our windows wide open, with the most amazing breeze blowing through.  There’s one tree on the perimeter of our condo building that’s in full bloom with the most fragrant tiny white flowers, so that sweet smell was wafting into the courtyard and into our condo all weekend.  (Our building is shaped like a rectangle donut, with a courtyard and all of the condo entrances in the hole.)  Open-mouthed smile

Literally…the PERFECT spring weekend!!

And of course, I worked on my condo.  I really am inching closer and closer to the finish line on my kitchen and breakfast room.  I still can’t cross anything else off my list just yet (the last thing crossed off was the pet station), but almost all of the things left are “in progress” and nearing completion.  Oh, what a glorious day that will be!!

The sad thing is that most of what I did isn’t particularly exciting…like FINALLY prying up the quarter round around the baseboards so I could put the final row of tiles down and do some grouting.  What boring pictures those would have been!

But there is one thing that absolutely makes me giddy.  You see, after about a year of living with this…

kitchen cabinets without trim 2

(Recessed lighting with NO trim kits…uugghh!!!  How ugly!!)

And also about a year of this…

kitchen cabinets without trim

(Cabinets with no moulding at the ceiling, and a terribly sloppy painting job…yuck!!)

After this weekend, I now have this…

kitchen cabinets painted trim

The paint was still wet in the picture, but what a difference those details make, right?

Perhaps…just perhaps…this seemingly never-ending project will one day have an ending.

Well, I hate to cut this short on a Monday morning, but these next two weeks are going to be crazy busy for me.  If I’m not around as much as I have been, you’ll know why.  But hopefully when it’s all said and done, I’ll have some pretty great projects to share with you!

By the way, if you missed the first A2D link party yesterday, be sure to visit and check out all of the great projects that were linked up!!  And you still have time to link up your own project or room transformation.  The linky thing will be open until Wednesday.  Click here to visit the link party!

  1. The weather was definitely gorgeous here too! I didn't get as much as I wanted to get done but that's ok! I really love your kitchen and how everything is coming together. We just painted our kitchen cabinets too, and need to install the doors {we had a really hard time with hinges, ugh!}, the hardware and the moulding and we will be done with that project. Hopefully this weekend {crosses fingers}

  2. Mornin', Kristi! I've been following along with your condo kitchen doings and thinking how much you really have accomplished–every single project with its special details and fun colors that add up to such a great little kitchen with so much inspiration for us–love it!

  3. Jealous of the weather! Up here in the Black Hills, we had snow. 🙁 Saturday was gorgeous- around 60 & Sunday it was snowing. Welcome to spring in SD! The kitchen looks great!

  4. I just have to ask…where oh where did you find those baskets??? I have searched high & low for baskets to fit into my cabinets…they are either too small or too big! Ugh!!!

  5. I found those at Michael's, and happened to find them on sale. Woohoo!! 🙂 I bought these a while back, but I've seen similar ones (similar size) in there recently.

  6. Love your work on the kitchen and the color combo.  It's not the color combo for me, but I always admire good color selection in projects.  Putting the (I think it's called) tongue and groove panels on the ceilings is wonderful and of course the moulding on the cabinets really finishes it off.  I just started not long ago viewing your projects.  I live in a rented trailer and can do nothing here as the manager is the "be all queen bee" inside and outside of the trailers and discourages improvements even if the tenant is willing to pay the cost.  So looking at your "Truly wonderful – yet cost effective projects" are a nice break for me.  Mary S.
