One More Sunburst Post (and My Plan "A" Brought To Life)
The whole reason I blog is to inspire people to tackle their home and decorating projects on their own (with less money). So when I get e-mails or comments from those of you who have tried my projects, it thrills me to no end!!
With that said, check out this amazing wood shim sunburst mirror from J and J Home that was created according to my “Plan A” sunburst.
I love it! She said it measures a whopping 39 inches in diameter, and took two packages of shims. Those shims are different, and much longer, than the ones I used, and are more expensive. But since she only used two packages (as opposed to my SEVENTEEN), it still ended up being less expensive. Now I’m going to have to make another trip to Home Depot to see if I can find these long shims!!
This sunburst also looks VERY much like the Ballard Design sunburst that costs $349.
The wood shim version costs $20. Quite a savings!!
Who knew that wood shims could be such a versatile medium for home decor?!

Looks great! I still can't get over the fact that the Ballard one is $349! craziness…
So how long dit it take to make the sunburst start to finish???? I may havemissed that in an earlier post.
Thanks for posting my sunburst. I'm loving it!
Gosh, I love both sunburst mirrors! Now I don't know which one to make! I might have to make them both if I can find long shims!

Verrrry pretty!
I really like the layered effect of this one! And I think it's nicer than the $349 version by far!!
I love your blog!!! You have such a gift! Right now I'm making your upholstered headboard design and the sunburst mirror! Thank you thank you!
I'll send a photo when mine is finished.. Great idea!
Oh choices…I the design you did…but I like the size with the longer shims…but how much am I willing to invest in a DIY project gone wrong? How fool proof is this project, anyone tried this without success?
Verrrry pretty!
