Out of Curiosity:: Kitchen Backsplash Material?

I’m over a John & Alice’s house today working on their kitchen cabinets, so naturally, my mind is racing with kitchen ideas. I’ve pretty much got this design plan nailed down, but I still like to dream of possibilities for future projects.

Which brings me to today’s question regarding kitchen backsplashes.

The backsplash is a great place to make a design statement! And while most kitchens I see tend to have tile backsplashes, there really are many other materials available.

Naturally, tile is popular because of its durability, and the design possibilities are endless…

How cute is this kitchen!!  Spotted at 1916 Bungalow

But beadboard is one of my absolute favorite backsplash materials.  It’s classic…timeless…

But I DO love the look of stainless steel…

But I think probably my absolute favorite…the one I’d use myself if I weren’t on such a tight budget…is glass.  Nope, not glass mosaic tile…but just sleek, smooth glass.

I’m sure I’ve left something out.  Of course, some people simply paint the drywall above their countertops.  That’s probably my least favorite.  And then there are all sorts of combinations of the above-mentioned materials.

So that leads me to the question of this week…

If your favorite isn’t listed, leave me a comment below and tell me what it is! I’m curious!!

  1. My favorite backsplash is the look of old tin ceiling tiles…LOVE it! 🙂 (but beadboard is my 2nd favorite…I have beadboard all over my kitchen, just not as a backsplash) 🙂

  2. Really? Would a glass backsplash be expensive? I would have thought it would be the least expensive! I guess I don't get out much!

  3. I love the beadboard backsplash. My house was a spec. house, so I just have builder's grade tile – pretty boring, but not ugly, so replacing it isn't on the horizon (I have lots of other things I want to do first), but I would love to have a a kitchen like the one featured with the beadboard…

  4. I have tile at home and beadboard at our weekend place, but I love the look of the glass, never even thought of that. I also love the look of pressed tin!

  5. I would love to use different colors of bricks for my backsplash because it's inexpensive and I find it attractive and eye-catching. Do you also love brick backsplashes? 🙂
