Quartz Countertop Options For Our Bathroom Vanities (Which One Is Your Favorite?)

I hit a bit of a bump in the road with the quartz countertops for our bathroom vanities. Long ago, I had made a decision on what I wanted, and where I was getting it, but I learned last Friday that I had some miscommunication with that place. They only offers 3cm quartz countertops (about 1 1/4″ thick), and I want 2cm (about 3/4″ thick) countertops for our bathroom. I’m so glad I realized that before they came out and measured and started the process! So yesterday, I had to start from the beginning, with a new place, and new quartz countertop options for our bathroom.

I actually love the four new options far more than my original selection, which was just a plain white quartz with very light gray speckles. I don’t think this is the exact one I chose originally, but it’s pretty close.

That one is Corian Cloud White in a polished finish, and I’m pretty sure it’s what I have in the studio half bathroom. I brought it home from the new place because it was so much like the one I had originally chosen, but I ruled it out almost immediately because they had so many prettier ones.

These four new options look much more high end, in my humble opinion. The final four that I’ve narrowed it down to are: (1) Corian Stratus White, leathered, (2) Corian Ashen Gray, leathered, (3) Vicostone Luna Plena, polished, and (4) Vicostone Elysian, polished.

Here’s a closer look at each one. I have a definite favorite, so I’m curious to see which one y’all gravitate towards.

Corian Stratus White, Leathered

This leathered finish is amazing. At first, I thought it was just a honed (matte) look, but it’s not. While most of it is matte, you can see tiny hints of a polished surface peeking through. But it’s on such a small, granular level that it’s almost undetectable. It’s really hard to explain. You really have to see it in person to appreciate it.

Here’s a close-up of the Corian Stratus White in the leathered finish…

Here’s a look at it close to the wall and with the floor tile…

And a look at it next to the center storage cabinet with the floor in the background.

Here it is sitting on top of the floor tile (which it never will be, of course), and with the backsplash tile…

Corian Ashen Gray, Leathered

This Corian Ashen Gray in the leathered finish is very pretty with a much more subtle design.

Here’s a look at it next to the wall and with the floor tile…

Vicostone Luna Plena, Polished

I had never heard of this brand before. This is Luna Plena in a polished finish from Vicostone.

Here’s the view of it with the wall and the floor tile…

And with the storage cabinet and the floor tile…

Here’s what it looks like sitting right on top of the floor tile with the backsplash tile.

Vicostone Elysian, Polished

And finally, this is Elysian in a polished finish from Vicostone. I shocked myself choosing one that was predominantly light gray, but I absolutely love how those brownish-gray spots in it tie in with the walnut wood of the vanities and center cabinet.

Here’s a look at it next to the wall and with the floor tile…

And next to the cabinet with the floor tile in the background…

Here’s what it looks like right next to the other selections…

Like I said, I have a very clear favorite from these four. But quite honestly, I would be perfectly happy with any of the four. The sinks are a matte white finish, so they’ll look good with any of the four as well.

I’m curious to hear what your favorite is!

    1. I love all of them as well but I think my favorite is the Vicostone Elysian, polished. I can’t wait to see which one you pick as they are all beautiful!

  1. Luna Flena has more life and looks great with the wood, the wall, and the floor, without being too blah or too much its own thing, IMHO.

  2. I like either the Corian Stratus White or the Luna Plena. To me, the Ashen Grey looks too similar to the floor in the amount of veining. The Vicostone Elysian, while I would like it in my own house, feels too dark for the space. You’re almost there!

  3. My vote is for either of the leathered options. We got a leathered granite for our built in bar years ago and it is something that we still get compliments on whenever people visit. The look is so unique and it is very easy to care for/clean too.

    1. YES! I have a coffee table with the leather finish. Grand babes, 2 large wet mouth dogs, polish and remover and HH’s coffee and beer steins and it still requires nothing more than a casual wipe when there’s an actual spill. I would love to have this in my kitchen it’s so good.

  4. The Vicostone Elysian, with the Luna as a close second! They both have very nice, large swirls that reflect the texture of your plaster walls. Both of them suit the floor the best out of the four, but because the Elysian is grey rather than white, the contrast against the floor looks more intentional (whereas the others are not-quite-there matching it).

    1. Exactly my thoughts! Vicostone Elysian contrast looks intentional verses trying to match the floor and missing the mark.

  5. I like both the Vicostone options. The Corian white, I’d always feel like had water splatters with the way that pattern looks, but that may only be an in-pictures problem. The Corian gray is too plain and matchy with the floor tile. Both Vicostone options have variations that play well with the other surfaces and add interest without being overbearing.

  6. I had Vicostone quartz countertops in my kitchen for 3 years before moving. I absolutely loved the product. No issues with stains, easy to clean and beautiful.

  7. I like two of these, if you want to match- Ashen Grey. If you want more texture, I say Luna Pelena the most. We got a laminate countertop the design is a little too busy, it hides hair from too much texture… its too forgiving.

  8. Looking at each with the long angle of the floor, I like the Corian Ashen Gray, Leathered the best. The others are more complex and don’t quite flow with the floor.

  9. I like all four but having said that, I know that the photos don’t always come out correctly as to actual colors. I have just gone thru this with picking quartz for my new house. Based on your floor and backsplash, I would go with the one that shows the same level of whiteness. A bright white paired with a creamier white just doesn’t look good to me. The Ashen Grey doesn’t look as good to me as the other 3. The darker grey piece, Elysian, would add contrast to the backsplash and the floor but also has a tinge of tan that would pair with the wood well.

  10. I was immediately drawn to the Luna Plena BUT Ashen Grey Leathered a close 2nd-maybe a tie. The Ashen Grey just looks a better match to your floor tile and I think will let your vanities shine. I think it will have a more cohesive/calming/deliberate look.

    1. Agree with Cindy. Of the two, which both are great with floor, I’d pick the one whose undertone best matches the floor tile’s undertone. (i.e., the background color tint should be the same you don’t end up with a blue white background on one and, say, a pink tint background on the other.) Got it correct in our bathroom tile and counters and three years later still happy with match.

  11. I like the Ashen Gray. I don’t like a lot of pattern in my counter tops and I love the leather finish. Next would be Luna.

  12. Elysian or Ashen. I think the Elysian works the best with all the other finishes – wall color brings out a bit of blue in it, backsplash pops the white.

Not a fan of how the other two fight a little with the floor – Luna starts reading a little beige with the floor/green with the wall color, and Stratus too busy with both floor and backsplash.

If you’re going for cleaner, more modern – Ashen. Warmer and richer – Elysian.

  13. Stratus White, Luna Plena, Ashen Grey, Elysian in that order. I was surprised as in the first pics of just the sample I thought Ashen Grey was the clear winner. But seeing them with the floor tile in the background made a HUGE difference. What I thought was far too busy (Stratus White or Luna Plena) turned out to be just the right contrast with the tile. And my favorite stand alone tile (Ashen Grey) was too blah when viewed with the floor tile. I think the Elysian has too much contrast for me.

  14. I favor the Vicostone products. I like Luna Plena, but the Elysian has more contrast and would be my first choice.

I have Corian countertops in my kitchen, and frankly, I’m not a fan.

  15. Another vote for the Luna. Not too busy and not too plain, the first two probably need to be seen in person and the last one is too dark. So happy things are moving forward!

  16. All are lovely, but I prefer Elysian due to greater contrast with the floor. Luna is second. What a beautiful bathroom even before it is completely done!

  17. I like Elysian best. The other 3 are rather bland; too much like the other elements. Elysian is subtle, but has enough definition to contribute to the overall vibe, but without being the focus that grabs the eye. However, you are the one living with this, so you should choose what makes you the happiest and most comfortable. Looking forward to seeing the finished room; it’s beautiful!

  18. I think I like the Ashen Gray best. I don’t love it right against the floor tile, but I prefer it in the other shots. I like the veining or whatever it is.

  19. Corian Stratus White, leathered 1st choice, with Vicostone Luna Plena, polished a close 2nd. Such beautiful option, though, you can’t really go wrong!

  20. Ashen Grey and Luna Plena are my favorites. The backsplash I’m having a hard time picturing finished though. You’re far better at that than I am!

  21. #1 or #4, 4 being my favorite the others look either too busy with the floor, or just I don’t know…not right. The only problem I see with #4 is that it really pulls the blue from the wall color but I ! love it anyway. Whichever you choose, it will be the standard Kristi

  22. The vanities and dresser came out beautifully. I think all the selections are very nice but my vote is for Ashen Gray. I just think all the patterning on the others will detract from the beautiful walnut fronts.

  23. Luna Plena would be my choice from the pictures, with Ashen Gray a close second choice. Hard to tell what the undertones are, so in the end the decision will always be yours😊 My preference is for less veining or movement, so there is less visual clutter once accessories and decorations have been added. Good luck. Your bathroom looks beautiful.

  24. Vicostone Luna Plena , polished!
I only scrolled low enough to leave my answer. Then I’ll go back and see what others put. I didn’t want to be influenced, 🙂

  25. Definitely the Elysian. The other choices are so close to the floor color that it might appear that you tried to match it, but failed. If you can’t match, in my opinion, go for a contrast.

  26. Right away, I thought the Corian Stratus White was reminiscent of your mural and new bubble light, it was my first favourite, but then I gravitated towards the Corian Ashen Gray because of its subtleness, and it has a correlation also to your bubble light. And I like that it pairs nicely with the floor without being busy or contrasting. The last one for me is dark on the walnut wood. Good luck!

  27. Wow! They all look great. My favorite and even before I scrolled down is the last one..the Elysian gray. Can’t wait to see what you end up with!

  28. You can’t go wrong with any of those, but my favorite is the Stratus. I’m in love with that one! Love all you are doing in the bathroom.

  29. I like the Elysian. I think a darker color on the top that isn’t so matchy with the floor tile will look more intentional and will also look better next to the dark wood. Also, some of the lighter options seem more cream than white like the floor tile, but maybe it’s the pic.

    1. Personally, I like the more blurred look of the Luna. I think it allows each of the other elements; wood, floor, and backsplash to shine in their own right—most especially without competing for the Walnut vanities/storage dresser’s attention.

  30. My vote:
#1 – Elysian: I love how it harmonizes with and brings out the warmth in the walnut.
#2 – Stratus: It’s subtle circular shapes echo the backsplash.

  31. I was first drawn to the first option, looking at them all together, but seeing them next to other finishes in the room, I think I prefer the number 4, darkest option, as it contrasts more with the marble on the floor.

  32. Luna Plena or Ashen Gray leathered.
Whichever one is the easiest care.
Both look nice next to the walnut and the backsplash without looking as busy or dark like the other options on my monitor.

  33. WOW – they are all so nice. I think my favorites are Elysian and Status White, mostly because they offer a little change from the floor tile…a little more contrast? I agree, you can’t go wrong with this choice…all very nice. I’m excited to see which one you are favoring!

  34. I go back and forth between the Elysian and Vicostone Luna Plena, Any of the ones you chose will look great but I’m leaning towards the Luna. It seems to complement the floor well.

  35. Tops 1,2,3 look like you are trying to get close match to the floor, but top 4 best compliments the furniture you made and therefore is the lucky winner.

  36. Im for the Elysian! Love how it’s not trying to match, but picks up the dark streaks in the flooring.
    Creates a sophisticated, curated look!

  37. I eliminated the elysian one right away, I feel it’s too dark.
Any of the other 3 will work though the ashen gray looks too much like the floor tile. I think the stratus white leathered is my choice.

  38. Ok, I have a favorite, but I have had bad luck with Corian. I had this on my kitchen cabinets in my house in Clarksville, TN. It was 16 degrees when they installed it and the temperature sure might have caused the problem. And you cannot set anything hot on it because it will melt. It is plastic. We had cutting boards under the toaster, the crock pot, anything that was going to be or get hot. As far a color and design, I like the Ashen Gray. The first one is spotty and with the waves of color in the floor and the spots on the countertop……….just too much movement, I think. Of course, I grew up not daring to put strips and dots together.

The darker grey one was a good color, but again, I didn’t think the combination looked good together. BUT IT IS YOUR BATHROOM SO DO WHAT YOU LIKE.

      1. Quartz is actually bits of quartz suspended in a resin binder. The binder isn’t heat-safe like granite or quartzite are, so you do need to be careful with hot things in kitchens and baths (curling irons/flat irons).

Karin Kirk is a geologist who writes about such stuff.

Here is one of her articles explaining quartz countertop materials: https://usenaturalstone.org/is-quartz-natural-stone/

And another on the care of quartz: https://usenaturalstone.org/do-engineered-quartz-countertops-stain/

  39. I think you need to establish the undertone in the floor tile and go with the quartz top that has the same undertone. A mismatch will become annoying.

  40. As I was scrolling through the first three options, I found myself thinking that they are all pretty, but they all almost-but-not-quite match the floor, YKWIM? Like, if you could use the actual floor tiles to make a countertop that would be great, but if not, you need something that has more contrast to it so that it does not look like you were trying to match it and not quite getting there. Then the fourth option came up….wow, that is beautiful! Still serene and clean looking, but enough earthy elements to tie it all together, and it blends and contrasts wonderfully with the floor and the wood.

    1. Ashen Gray _ timeless and not too busy. Also nice tone which works with your whole bathroom aesthetic. But… all these new choices are lovely and DO look expensive!

  41. My personal favorite is the Corian Ashen Gray. But I tend to lean toward the more simple patterns. However, in your bathroom, I think the Corian Stratus White would look lovely! Good luck!

  42. From these photos, I would choose the Elysian because the gray matches well with the gray in the floor tile and offers a good contrast to the white in the tile and the beautiful walnut. I liked the cloud like effect of the Luna Plena, but thought it too much movement against the tile. The two Corians were nice, but seemed to have a tidge of pinkish coloration on my monitor which didn’t look good to me with the floor tile. All this to say, ya gotta be there to see what really looks good and whatever you choose, Kristi, it will be stunning and perfect!

  43. Corian Ashen Gray, Leathered – hands down winner in my book. The others look too busy or dirty for such a clean, cohesive look you already have going in your beautiful bathroom.

The vanities are AMAZING, by the way!!

  44. My favorite is the Luna Plena so it will be interesting to see which you choose 😋 A my of them will be beautiful I’m sure!

  45. Luna Plena. I think it is the best and unites the different surfaces. I wonder about the glass backsplash though. It is very high gloss and reflective. Maybe it changes when it is grouted.
I’m interested in which one is your favorite.

  46. Luna Plena. It’s not my favorite by itself, but I think it’s the most cohesive with your other elements. If not that, then the 1st one. I like the last, but it seems too dark in your room, the other 2 I mentioned have blues that go with the wall color. The 2nd one is blah.

  47. What a difficult choice, they are all equally gorgeous. So to choose, my 1st choice would be Elysian, followed by Luna, then Ashen Gray 3rd choice. But all that to say, we are seeing the samples through our screens and they can look really different in natural light. I know whichever one you choose, will be perfect as you have such great vision.

  48. I love the stratus white as I love the different colors in it. Also like that it actually has a pattern that is small when compared to the floor tile pattern.

While I also like the last one with the darker background I did not like it next to your blue wall color.

  49. I like them all, but the last one would be my pick. I like the little bit of contrast, and the colors seem to work so well with the vanities.

  50. Beautiful choices! I really love either Vicostone. Maybe the gray slightly more. Both seem a better match to your beautiful walnut and stand out slightly from the floor. This bathroom is beautiful BTW! Well worth all the sweat, tears and wait!

  51. If we get to vote, I vote for Elysian! I like the little bit darker color to go with a dark wood and it contrasts with the floor nicely

  52. After viewing and commenting on your post on my cell phone yesterday, I felt compelled to look at this post again this morning on my laptop. I have to say I like the Luna best with the floor tile. It was mostly the backsplash I wanted to take a second look at. I think it is too bright, white, shiny and modern next to your gorgeous, elegant more traditional vanities and dresser. I think something simpler that draws less attention from the vanities may be better. Just my opinion.

  53. I do like all of them and think all could work beautifully. I have something very similar to the Vicostone Luna Plena in my kitchen and I love it.

  54. You can’t go wrong with any of these choices. Much to my surprise I keep going back to the Elysian. I think it’s beautiful with the wood. They say quartz doesn’t stain but it can. I’ve seen ball point pen stain it. I would put on a sample of everything you use in the bathroom and leave it on the tile for a few days, then see if it washes off. Toothpaste, mouthwash, oils, bath beads, wax, lotion, wet newsprint, wet magazine etc. I’m not familiar with that brand of quartz or with leathered quartz and you want to be sure it’s not likely to stain.

  55. Elysian. I too think it looks more intentional & less like you are trying to match the floor. At first I thought my pick was going to be Ashen Grey but when I saw Elysian it went to my second pick.
