There aren’t many styles or types of furniture that I can look at 100% of the time and say now that’s completely ME. There seems to be one exception. I love…nay, I ADORE any chair with bamboo and/or caning.
I haven’t always been that way. There was a time when almost any chairs with bamboo or caning just looked old and outdated to me. But I think it was seeing rooms like these that really helped me see the potential beauty in these little treasures. These bold, fresh colors are ME!

So why am I telling you this seemingly random bit of information about myself? Because looky looky at what I got this past weekend!

One pair of (potentially) gorgeous cane chairs!!! Oh, and did I happen to mention that they were FREE!? Oh my…I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about these chairs. I don’t actually have them in my possession quite yet. They’re tucked away safely in storage at my grandmother’s house about three hours away. But they’re mine…all mine!
Now comes the hard part–deciding exactly what I want to do with them. Do I paint them, or leave them as they are? What kind of fabric should I use? Oh dear. The possibilities are endless.

Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
I hope you’ll join me on my DIY and decorating journey! If you want to follow my projects and progress, you can subscribe below and have each new post delivered to your email inbox. That way you’ll never miss a thing!

April 14, 2010 at 4:43 amI'm so excited to see what you do with them!
I've got one that I'm in the middle of refinishing, so I'll do a linky once I finish it!
I'm quite partial to something totally unexpected, like um, pink?!

Lisa, exactly!! They're nice chairs, but it's even sweeter that they were FREE! 🙂

April 2, 2011 at 6:17 pmI have two chairs exactly like your last two on this page that I got a couple of years ago when my dad passed away. I think he had them for maybe 10 years and had gotten them from a family friend when she passed away. Do you know anything about them? When and where they were made? Or what style they are called. He lived in the Los Angles area. Is your grandmother still living? Would she know anything about them?
I love them and am in the process of trying to find material to recover them.
