Ghosts In The Machine, and Gremlins In The Tape Measure

Well, it’s just been one of those weeks.

As you know, two weeks ago, my computer completely died. Then this past Tuesday, Matt’s computer died also. There we were, left with no usable computer. (We still have the network computer, but it doesn’t have a working monitor). It’s amazing how much we’ve come to rely on computers. Even in doing the most basic of tasks, like making a phone call to Home Depot, I rely on the internet to retrieve the phone number. (Phone books? Do they still make those?) 🙂

So with my computer beyond repair, Matt’s computer on its way back to the manufacturer for repair, and the computer/internet withdrawal symptoms setting in, I headed to Best Buy and picked up this beauty:

Meet my new Cherry Red Dell Inspiron. After all, doesn’t every girl need a computer that matches her home’s decor? Matt seems to only be concerned about things called “hard drive space” and “memory”, and other silly things like that. So it’s up to me to be concerned about the truly important things…Will the computer look pretty sitting in my home?

Phew…computer issue resolved.

And then yesterday, another disaster struck. I had a drapery installation scheduled for a client, and we were going to install draperies in her living room and dining room. Well, long story short, the draperies for the dining room were too short. No, I’m not talking about a couple of inches. I’m talking about 10 1/2 inches!! Yes, TEN-AND-A-HALF INCHES TOO SHORT!! In my over four years in business, I have never, ever, not once, measured wrong for window treatments. I’m convinced it was a defective tape measure. 🙂 Okay, it was likely “user error”, but let’s just move on, shall we?

I’m so thankful that the week is over. Hopefully next week will be much better.

  1. The drapes will be a distant memory next week, once they've been unhemmed and resewn. I'm thinking of painting the dining room real quick so we can see them with the new room color and not the old. My energy is waning though!

  2. Eliska, drink some strong coffee and pick up that paint brush!! 🙂 How nice it would be for you to not have to take down the draperies in the near future to paint!
