Happy Endings, New Beginnings
Well, 2008 ended on a high note. Remember the quilted throw I accidentally threw away during my worst week a couple of weeks ago? I finally finished the replacement throw, and it turned out beautifully.
Oh sure, 2008 threw us some other curve balls before bidding its final farewell, like my husband getting laid off of his job a week before Christmas, and my other worst week client wanting a refund on her sconces, but right now I don’t even really care about those things because I’m just looking forward to what this next year holds. I welcome 2009 with open arms and excitement in my heart.
In about a month, I’ll be opening my very own small boutique shop, called…
I’m so excited about this new venture, and along the way, I’ll be sharing with you the step-by-step process for fixing up these furniture pieces so that you can do your own. Of course, if you live in the Central Texas area, you can always stop by my new little shop (which will be located in The Shops of River Square Center in downtown Waco) and see my inventory first hand. I’m aiming to be open by February 1st.
In addition to my new shop, I also have more great things on the way, including great things for the blog/website. I’ll be doing lots of great new tutorials, including one for the patchwork quilted throw pictured above, a great new chandelier made out of something that you’ll have to see to believe, an easy-to-make vintage-inspired hostess apron (half apron), a made-from-scratch contemporary window seat (much like the one shown here), and much, much more.
Well, that’s all for now. I’ll be taking the next few days to prepare some of the things mentioned above, and then I’ll meet you back here on Monday to kick off a brand new year here on A2D. I hope you’ll join me!!
Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
Well, congrats on your soon to open shoppe!!!
That is really exciting!!! If I’m ever even close in the neighborhood I’ll stop in.
Can’t wait to follow your journey. I’m sure I’ll learn a thing or two…
Happy New Year!
Here’s to new beginnings!
How exciting! I’m in the North Dallas area but will have to stop by next time I’m in Waco.
Hope you had a wonderful New Year Kristi!

My husband was informed of a potential lay off as well, and we are taking it just like you are, and trusting that it will all be OK in the end.
Here’s looking at 2009 with hope and joy!
PS: Your boutique banner is be-u-tiful!
