I’d love to know…where do you stand on the “place settings as decor” issue? I’ve seen this on a few blogs, and I just can’t seem to get on board with this idea. In my opinion, place settings are used for entertaining, for eating, for using, but NOT for sitting around gathering dust. When I walk into someone’s house and see place settings sitting on the table as decor, my mind immediately goes to questions like ‘How long have those been sitting there?’ and ‘How many times have those been dusted?’ and ‘How many hands have been on those?’ So where do you stand on the issue?

April 9, 2010 at 12:26 amI can see where some might want to decorate with place settings. I'm with you though. What a pain it would be to have to "unset" the table and wash everything just to reset it when company does come over. BTW, LOVE your blog!

But it's a home, not a store.

April 10, 2010 at 2:18 pmMy vote was on the "Absolutely not!" portion, then again… I was thinking, if a place setting was like a small fountain on the side or fish tank with some decore around it… that might work. But a table where I'd be using for dinner, probably not.
