2010 Year In Review:: Favorite Room Redesign Of The Year

This year, I had the opportunity to work on several different room redesigns, from rooms in my own condo, to rooms for clients. I’ve enjoyed all of them, and loved the results in all of them, but I do have a favorite.

Can you guess which one it is? John & Alice’s bedroom? Gwen’s bathroom? Julia’s kitchen?

You might be surprised, but my favorite room from this past year is actually my breakfast room. I don’t have a picture of the whole shebang taken after the installation of the chandelier. In fact, the room still isn’t completely finished. I still have pillows to make, chairs to purchase and refinish/reupholster, some crown molding to install, and some decorative items to make/buy. But even in its unfinished state, it’s still my favorite.

Here’s what the breakfast room looked like when we bought the condo.

Here’s the progress I had made as of this past spring, with the new cabinets, banquette seating with upholstered back, valance, cubby holes, and new table.

Later in the year, I added the hand-painted family name sign that I had wanted to make:

And then just a couple of months ago, I finally added an apple green chandelier:

Just a few more details to go, and I can officially call this room “finished”, and then I can get some real, official “after” photos.

  1. Naz, writing up a tutorial for that valance has been on my "to do" list since…well…since April. 🙁 Hopefully it's something I can get to in the new year.

  2. What a great inspired, best-use-of space!! Love how you worked the cabinets into a real area where storage was needed, especially if your condo is 800+ sq ft. Wonderful job.

  3. You have done a great job,
