2010 Year In Review:: Favorite DIY Project Of The Year
DIY Project. Are there words more beautiful in the English language? 😀
Oh, okay. I’m sure there are plenty. But oh, how I love a DIY project!!! I love the sound of my saw, the smell of freshly cut wood, the excitement of seeing a coat of paint being applied, the challenge of figuring out how to make something, and yes, even the do-overs when they’re necessary.
My favorite DIY project of the year is a result of a do-over. It’s my very own upholstered headboard with a nailhead trim.
The first attempt was sad. Just plain pathetic. So I ripped everything down to bare bones, and started over. The second result was just what I had imagined in my mind!!!

Just look at those gorgeous nailheads, all perfectly lined up!!! Oh, trust me, my first attempt was a disaster. But once I got the hang of using the tool correctly, it was a breeze!!

And the fabric was a remnant at a local fabric store, so I got it for quite a bargain! I love the texture.

It fits perfectly between the two new closets that I built. So cozy!!
And all for under $125!! You can see the process I used to make this headboard right here.

Great work on the headboard!! I saw on HGTV's "Design to Sell" where they did a headboard and the nails were not lined up at all and looked terrible. Yours looks very professional and I do love the textured fabric. You should be very proud!! Love it!!
This is amazing. I will definitely have to try this. Your blog has been so inspirational to me.

Hi,
I have a chair with Nailhead trim with what looks to be the same exact fabric!!! I made a Head board similar to the one you made but tufted. It would be awesome to match it. Do you know what color and type of fabric that remnant was labeled as?
Thanks and beautiful headboard by the way!
