At times I think to myself…I would love to know what it’s like to have the type of personality where I start a project, and then FINISH the project, before moving on to the next project. Unfortunately, that’s just not me. I’ve never been that way, and I don’t foresee a personality change in the near future. Yes, I’m afflicted with…D.I.Y. A.D.D..
I just have too much energy…and excitement…and too many ideas…to focus on one thing at a time. So, while most of you probably think I’m just all about the kitchen and eating area right now (which I SHOULD be), that’s not quite the case. I’ve been messing around with some other projects around the condo as well, like these desks I built for my office. The price? About $35 each. Amount of time to build? About a day for building, and a day for painting.
See? I didn’t even bother to clean up the dust from sanding before I painted the desks. No time for that! I was WAY too excited about getting that paint color on the desks!! Yet another sign of my D.I.Y. A.D.D.
I’m not 100% satisfied with the color. In fact, I went back to the paint store and got the next shade darker (which is actually the same color I used on the pet station–kind of a pinkish red).
I’ve only just begun on this room…OBVIOUSLY. Still to come: long shelves on the window wall (that I made out of an extra hollow core door), white draperies out of fabric that I found on clearance for $6/yard. Built-in cabinets along the bottom of the window wall. Perhaps a unique valance/cornice on the window. And I’m tossing around the idea of a stencil for the wall. And the final touch…a rather large, bold crystal chandelier that was given to me, that I plan to paint solid white. Oh, there’s plenty more, like all of the accessories and finishing touches, but the items I mentioned are the big projects for the room.
I hope you have a great weekend!! It’s looking to be a very busy one for me.
Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
