Happiness Is…Color

I don’t have any studio progress to share just yet, but I’ve been taking a look back at what I’ve accomplished so far on this house, and I wanted to give you a mini “at a glance” house tour.

Ever since the beginning of the year (and since I did my blog redesign), I’ve been trying to get things a little more organized around my corner of the internet. And one thing I’ve been trying to get updated is my home tour page.

Y’all, I can’t even tell you how encouraging that process has been. Just to go back and see all of the rooms of my house as they looked when we bought the house, and then to see how they look now, is so fun, so encouraging, and so motivating.

But what I love the most is seeing all of the color. It’s no secret that I love color, and so seeing all of the rooms together on one page just makes me smile.

Here’s what I’m talking about…

I’m still convinced that my breakfast room needs a little something more to add some oomph. Those white curtains will have to go eventually (or get a makeover).

I can’t wait until I can add a picture of my finished living room and music room to this. And then, of course, my studio with the pink, or coral, or Bird of Paradise cabinets and colorful floral wallpaper.

I’m still working on getting things updated, but my House Tour page is getting there. If you’ve never seen it, or never seen how these rooms started out, you can see that here…

Also, after I did my blog redesign, I had several people ask where my archives menu had gone on the sidebar. Honestly, I had no idea that people used that. It seemed so inconvenient since you had to remember the month and year that I published a specific post in order to find it.

So I’ve added an archive back to the site, but I made it much easier to browse and find what you’re looking for (hopefully). Every single one of my posts is literally listed and linked on one page, in chronological order. You can find that here…

There’s a link on the sidebar where you can easily find that archive page.

And if you’re interested, I’ll be posting an update over on my keto blog either today or tomorrow. You can find that here…

I’ll put a permanent button in the sidebar so you can find that blog easily as well, without having to search back through blog posts.

Well, that was short and sweet today. I just wanted to end this week on a happy, colorful note. I’m hoping to have some studio progress to share with you on Monday, but winter has finally hit central Texas, and it’s in the 20s right now. That means it’s probably in the 30s in my studio, and the idea of working out there makes me want to hibernate in bed. So we’ll see! 🙂

  1. 20s in Texas and almost 60 in Maryland. Something is wrong here.

Your house looks so pretty and yes, I wholeheartedly without a doubt 100% ride or die agree- happiness IS color.

  2. Love the updates to the blog. Your home is so welcoming and colorful and such a change from when you purchased it. I’m enjoying your processes and all the colorful rooms/accessories you have. Thank you for brightening my Friday.

  3. How come, with all the heating ducts hanging out of the ceiling in the studio, does it not have heat yet? Maybe hooking up that system could be a top priority. I am with you on hating to work in the cold. I use a propane heater in my workshop in the winter, but that’s not really an option indoors.

And I’m on of those people who use the archive, though mostly on a newly-found blog. When I start reading a new blog and really like it, I go back to day one, and read the whole thing in chronological order (I did that with yours too, though a long time ago). Seeing that doing that is usually a multi-week project, the archive is really handy to ‘keep your place’.

    1. When we had the carport added on last summer, they took all of the ductwork off of the main HVAC unit inside since they were also doing construction/reframing work back in that closet and the ducts were in the way. When I realized that the way in which the new carport roof connected to the existing studio roof would allow for much more efficient routing for the ductwork, I asked them not to reconnect anything. So right now, the ducts aren’t attached to anything. I sure wish I had looked at the weather forecast and had gotten that done last week when it was still warm!

    2. Yes, I do that too with a new blog site. And I’d be inclined to do it with yours once in a while too. I must be missing something, but I don’t see how to find it on your new revised site as a newcomer would see the site

  4. Thank you for being a designer that decorates with happy vibrant colors as much as I do because no matter how dark, dreary or freezing cold it is outside…..when I step inside my brightly colored house I smile and feel warm inside! 🙂

  5. I love love love what you’ve done so far! I do agree on the white curtains in breakfast room……”they gotta go”😋😂. They just don’t seem to fit the rest of the room and kitchen. I know however, that you’ll eventually stumble upon the perfect thing for those rooms. I just follow along and wait to see it happen. 😁

  6. THANK YOU so much for decorating with color – it inspires me to embrace the palette I like – and not worry about “trends” – a house should be an expression of you – and you help us embrace that!

  7. Kristi. Reading your entry today prompted me to wonder if your wardrobe reflects the same color appetite you have in your house?

  8. Love what you have done. I love having colour around me too. Wish you lived closer I’d love your deas for my house. You are also very talented. Keep up the good work!

  9. I am amazed at what you have gotten done in so short amount of time. The bathroom is my favorite. Looking forward to what you do in the future.

  10. So many decorating magazine articles are a cold blur of greys and white then entitled ‘Colourful’ because the throw a few muddy mismatched pillows on the sofa. Your decorating is a joyful relief from all that and encouragement to follow my bliss with my colour pallet.

  11. I agree with the message above from Donna. This morning I rec’d an email regarding a colorful kitchen (what color) it was white with colorful yellow ceiling lights. I wanted to laugh because your colorful house has spoiled me.

  12. Amazing transformation. Your home is colorful, beautiful and welcoming. Also, I love the new Blog layout. You’ve made it very easy to find stuff.

  13. I have been following you for about a year because I’m interested to see your process. This is my first comment to you and it is just to say I love, Love, LOVE your kitchen! (Not to say I don’t like other rooms, I do.)
    Beautiful.

  14. I like archive buttons on blogs. If you suddenly find a new to you blog, especially home reno blogs, you can go back to the beginning and work your way forward through every post. Just like reading a book, but better!

  15. Your house makes me smile too. Must be why I just can’t wait to open your posts every time one appears in my inbox. I need my dose of happiness!!!

  16. I love your home! I do agree about the curtains. Possibly a colorful geometric. I love the chairs so I can’t see a floral pattern working, but I am sure I will be wowed when you come up with something. I am excited for the studio!!!! and the family room and the master suit, and Matt’s game room and the guest room and the yard and….Lol! You will be keeping us inspired for years to come!

  17. I’m in love with color as well! And I adore the ways you skillfully use bright colors! I’m challenged in how and where to use them and have had to redo or start over several times. I love your work and your blog!
