My Beautiful Painted Glass Plastic Chandelier
So if you missed yesterday’s post, and you’re wondering just why in the world this plastic chandelier came to reside in my condo, click right here to read the details. Actually, I think that post may bring up more questions than answers. After all, I’M still trying to figure out why I have a plastic chandelier hanging above my table!!
But regardless, at least my plastic chandelier is now the right color, and I actually think it looks quite nice!
After I got the thing home, unboxed it, and spent over an hour putting it together, it looked like this…

Ummm…what are the chances that my neighbors think they’re living next to an insane lady? I’d say those chances are pretty high. |
And after an unfortunate meeting with a can (or two) of awful orange spray paint, it has now been redeemed, and looks like this…
![]() |
It’s actually pretty, right? |
![]() |
It may be plastic, but I think it works! |
![]() |
Yes, I’m certain that I’m almost sure that it probably works. |
![]() |
When I look at it, it actually brings a smile to my face. |
![]() |
It may not be exactly what I had imagined… |
![]() |
but I still like it. |

I might even love it. |
A happy ending, don’t you think?

Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
Love it Kristie! Where do you get a plastic chandelier? Guess it's more cost efficient. I don't know if you remember my master bath but, I'd like a more feminine fixture over mine.

Great site for plastic chandeliers, all kinds of lighting and beaded curtains!!
I got it at Home Depot. It's actually a pretty little chandelier, and honestly when I was standing there looking at the one that was displayed, I didn't know it was plastic. But when I picked up the box, it was light as a feather.
It's definitely cheaper than any glass or crystal chandelier of that size, but I'm still not sure that it's worth that price for plastic. It was $99. For comparison, Lowe's has a similar one, same size, but it's real crystal, and the cost is $299.
I LOVE IT!!! So different and unique! Great job…Janell
It's definitely a happy ending. The color's in that room are fantastic! I've seen similar chandeliers at Hobby Lobby (although they may be a tad smaller). You provide more inspiration than you know!
Kristi,
Have to tell you how much I love your blog. I can't wait to read it every day. Love the things that you have done with your condo. You are "Oh so creative!!" I have read all of your old posts and loved watching how you have evolved. Wish I had your creativity! Guess I'll just have to be a "copier." Thanks for all your inspiration!! Keep it up!
You've been redeemed! LOVE it!!!
Love it! where did that baskets come from?
Oh, so much better! I love the apple green. I think it is just perfect for your lovely room.

Michelle, I got the baskets at Michael's, and then added the little chalkboard tags myself.
Oh how I LOVE it! It really brings a fun element to the room. It pulls the green from the curtains. You did a fantastic job.
way better than the orange!
I love it!!!

LOVE it and who knows…..maybe the orange mishap brought you to loving it even more…
I like it way way better than when you first bought and better than orange. I really like the apple green color! spray paint? What was the color and was it matte?

Wow, i've never seen a plastic chandelier! Very cool, looks great in green!
Hollie, I did use spray paint. It's Rustoleum Green Apple in satin finish from Home Depot. I think I'm still going to put a coat (or two…or five) of lacquer spray on it. I think I'd like it better shiny.
Really love the bold color you chose, totally works. I think the fact that it is plastic actually makes in better, makes in more kitchy and fun. If you were to paint a metal and crystal chandelier apple green it might not work as well! Enjoy your beautiful new piece!
I love it! The color totally transformed the look and it goes amazingly well with your nook. Isn't spray paint amazing. I spray a lot of stuff in our house…I mean A LOT. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my!!! L O V E it!! I even loved the orange in some weird-strange-out of body-experience way. But the green is PERFECT-O!!!
Great job!
You are having too much fun with chandeliers and a can of paint!!! Whoda thunk?

OMG! OMG! OMG! Just found your fabulous chandelier by googling green chandelier and I love it! I am so wanting to "borrow" this idea. Love the color, love the price, love, love, love it! I'm so excited to see this and just so inspired. So glad I found you today!
The chandelllier is truly beautiful, one of my favourite colours. I would like to say that it works in the space only because it doesnt have crystal/light diffusing drops, which wouldn’t have worked in the space…..But it really doesn’t work in the space, it is incongruous. An apple green sore thumb. The space is also overly cramped with your paisley designs, signage on the walls and the light-grass woven baskets on top. If you had stuck to your original (beautiful) colour scheme (blue, brown & white) and perhaps carried this into the baskets, signage and blinds (roman would have worked perfectly) you would have had an end result that would have truly wowed. People sometimes and especially on coment lines like these sing praises for things that do not deserve them, this is not to say that they aren’t genuine praises because sometimes the praisegiver hasn’t a clue either, but most of the time it is just because humans are like sheep and believe that if one person likes something they too should like it so that they aren’t the odd one out, like me, but luckily I know what I’m talking about. You could do soooo much better here.
So let me get this right…every one of my readers are sheep who don’t have a clue and dole out praises that aren’t deserved…EXCEPT you, and you’re the only one with any taste. I have one word for you. DELUSIONAL. Not everyone has to have the same taste as you, and people with different taste aren’t WRONG, they’re just DIFFERENT.
And my original color scheme was NEVER blue, brown, and white.
Leona, The room isn’t even finished. Kristi had this space sketched and planned down to every detail from the beginning. She hasn’t departed from anything. She is working diligently knocking out one project after another putting this space together and taking out time to teach her readers at the same time. If you knew anything about decorating you would know that you can’t judge a room until it is finished. The room is pretty now, but when it is done it will ”truly wow” don’t worry. We have nothing to go on to guess your true level of expertise except your boasts, odd verbiage, rudeness, poor advice, and premature/misplaced critique. I am not a sheep. I am very opinionated and I always say what I think. I am venturing to guess that you have never decorated any space (not even your own home) and that you have mistaken watching HGTV for real decorating experience. Well, it is a lot harder than it looks on the telly.
How has the paint been holding up. I wanna do something like this for my nursery. I just want it to be safe. Would you still used what you said before the rustoleum satin finish then lacquer on top. Or would you just do the lacquer so its shinnier if you did this project again.
The paint has held up perfectly. Mine only has the satin finish on it. I never put lacquer on it. But I think the finish is just a personal preference. I’m not particularly fond of super shiny painted finishes.
