I love this home, which was featured in the February issue of D Home. Dallas designer Martha Sweezey took a large “builder’s special”, with oak cabinetry, monochromatic paint schemes, basic light fixtures, etc. (otherwise known as a McMansion), and turned it into a beautiful home with designer touches and a French country feel.

Addicted 2 Decorating is where I share my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate the 1948 fixer upper that my husband, Matt, and I bought in 2013. Matt has M.S. and is unable to do physical work, so I do the majority of the work on the house by myself. You can learn more about me here.
I hope you’ll join me on my DIY and decorating journey! If you want to follow my projects and progress, you can subscribe below and have each new post delivered to your email inbox. That way you’ll never miss a thing!

I love the grouping of pictures with the plates. Incorporating different shapes always makes for an interesting design element in a room. Bookshelves are also one of my favorite things to decorate.

I love the look and feel of this cottage. Very open and airy. The French country look always gives off a sense of elegance and this place is no exception.
Really like the choice of woods within a few of the pictures, gives it that natural feel. Very nicely done!

As a French Country Lover and Interior Designer, thank you for sharing these inspiring photos. The subtle elegance illuminates throughout the house and I admire that it was not over done which is a little hard to do because most French Country Lovers (including myself) love to collect!

I love the green color on the walls in the first photo. I’m looking for a light soft green to paint my living and dining room and that looks perfect. Can you tell me what color that it?
