Studio Bathroom Mirror Options

I’ve been looking for the perfect mirror for the studio bathroom. Since the wallpaper is nothing but squares, the wainscoting has rectangles, and there are a lot of other straight lines and corners in the room, I think the mirror needs to add some softer shapes to the room.

Side note: I actually meant to add these to yesterday’s post, but I totally forgot! I even had it in the original title. I published the post, walked away, and then came back and realized that I never added the mirror options. 😀 So I updated the title of the post, but I do want to show you the options I’ve found.

I tried to do mockups of each mirror options, but my mockups are getting pretty messy now, so I don’t know how helpful they’ll be. I’ll add them anyway, though.

The mirror I used in my original mockups is this wavy round mirror (affiliate link).

Here’s what the mockup of that mirror in the room looks like.

I also tried a lighter purple for the vanity in this mockup. I’m not loving it. I’m very particular about purples. They either have to be really dark or light with a lot of gray. The medium purples just aren’t my thing. But I do love this mirror, which is why I used it in all of the original mockups. I think the wavy frame adds some softness to all of the squares.

The next option is this round mirror with the rope detail on the frame (affiliate link).

The detail kind of gets lost in the mockup, but you can kind of see it.

And you can see that I also tried out another suggestion in that mockup. Someone suggested the eggplant vanity and a pink ceiling. I was intrigued so I tried it out. I actually love it! I don’t know if that’s what I’ll end up doing, but I love the idea of a pink on the ceiling that coordinates with the studio cabinets.

The most basic mirror options is this smooth round gold frame (affiliate link).

I really like this mirror against the squares, but I’m not sure if it’s the best option. There’s a calming simplicity to it.

But then I came across this one and wondered, “Is calming simplicity really me?” This mirror with the large beaded mirror is a much bolder option, and I like bold options.

I really like the repetition of the circle motif against the repetitive square wallpaper.

And the final option isn’t round at all. I came across this mirror with the oval wavy shape (affiliate link), and I think this is a strong contender as well.

I like that it adds softness to the bold squares wallpaper, but it adds softness in a less expected way than a round mirror.

So those are the options that I have saved right now. I don’t think I’m going to keep looking. I have plenty of options here, and one of these will work well in the room. Now I just need to decide which way to go.

  1. Kristi, I really like the first mirror. Looking at the gold framed mirrors in the original pictures, they are coordinated with gold faucet fixtures. Are you going to keep the original faucet in chrome? Just a thought. Love your website and all your great decorating projects, ideas and photography.

  2. Not sure I have a feeling about the shape. The thinner the frame, the more it gets lost in the grid of the wallpaper.

  3. Even though I like the last mirror by itself, I find that your first option fits in better with the squares in the wallpaper – it would be my choice, if it were my room.

  4. I LOVE the 1st mirror. And I love the pink ceiling, just need it to have a touch more pigmented color, not so baby pink.

  5. I like the large gold beaded round mirror. It holds its own with the complex wallpaper. Just my vote, your decision of course. The pink ceiling is a great idea but I’d suggest something closer to the save value as the cabinets. Current pink is too pale for me.

    1. I agree. I think that is why the large beaded mirror is my favorite of the options presented. The wallpaper is very attention-commanding and dominant, and that is the only mirror that has enough heft to stand out on the wallpaper. (I am not a fan of the painted ceiling though). Like you said, just my opinion — this is Kristi’s decision. :).

  6. I prefer the round one with rope detail because it calms the room. I know it’s your home and your decision but as long as you’re asking, I feel there is a frenetic quality in this small room. In the end though, you’ll make your choices and love them!

  7. I like the first one. It is simple and allows the wallpaper to shine. In any case, if you find the one you like, and it is gold, you can always doctor the frame to match the chrome if matching is important to you.

The pink ceiling is downright fun. Would you like it no matter what paint color wins for the walls?

  8. I love the beaded frame best; the weight seems to work well in the room overall. The others feel lightweight. And does it need to be metallic? How about wood, or the same color as the vanity? I do like the last wavy oval frame, but still think it feels a bit lightweight. I also like the pink ceiling, but vote for a darker pink. Of course, this is your room so you need to pick you. You won’t be truly happy if you don’t.

  9. I love the first mirror! It’s exactly what the room needs. I also love the pink ceiling but I think I would match the cabinets in the studio. It’s going to be gorgeous no matter what you choose.💗

  10. I love the pink ceiling and the eggplant, one of my favorite colors. I liked the mirror with the big gold balls around the edge, to me it just seemed right. But frankly all of the mirrors looked great, I don’t think there is a wrong one. Have fun picking it out.
Cheers to you, Matt and the Fur Support Crew

  11. Will you be keeping the same faucet, and same spot? I would suggest you redo some of the mock ups with the faucet.
    I love the pink ceiling!!!

  12. When I saw the first mirror, I thought an oval shape would feel better, like your last option. I’m already out-voted though, LOL.

  13. Ooh, yeah, that last one! I like the more organic shape with all the geometry going on in there! I also surprisingly like the pink ceiling! How did it look with the green vanity you’re leaning towards?

    1. Hi Kristi: The last is definitely my favorite. The oval shape with the soft curves provides good balance to the wallpaper. Very classy looking! The round ones seem too overdone and likely to age quicker. I like to always choose items that buck the trends a little bit and add a unique look. You’re coming along great!

  14. Just one opinion- I LOVE the eggplant vanity base and pink ceiling! and My favorite mirror is the beaded trim round mirror. Something about it feels like a similar “weight” with the repeated sphere/circle shapes against the repeated squares on the wallpaper. Either of the wavy mirrors are also very nice, though I prefer the oval.
At this point I think you can’t make a poor choice, it’s only which is the better choice! 🙂

  15. I like the first mirror. It gives me a flower vibe which sort a kind of goes with the studio wallpaper. I’m sure you will pick the best!

  16. First choice would definitely be the wavy round mirror, second choice the large beaded one. You love a fun ceiling, so go for the pink!

  17. Of the last two mirrors I like the last one the best, but I know you will weigh all suggested and go with your choice, which will be beautiful as usual. Prayer for all in your household. Have a beautiful, blessed day.

  18. I do like the pink ceiling! I’d use one of the more muted shades of pink in the bottom row of the wallpaper. If you don’t match the eggplant vanity to the doors, I think the green would look better. I like the last wavy oval mirror best. The other simple frames are also nice. The beaded mirror looks very busy and heavy against the wallpaper.

  19. I love the wavy round mirror. It has just the right amount of pizazz. The others look either too bulky, or too plain to me.

  20. Lots of cool options, for sure! Just wondering – is the sink basin stainless steel? Several of the gold-tone mirrors are in mixed metal bathrooms, some have gold-colored faucets, some have brushed nickel or look like stainless steel too. Just wondering what the thought is on that – OK to mix the metal colors? I don’t do that usually but have, and have gotten used to it where I did it, but my need for symmetry usually means I have to have it coordinated more. And I am NOT a decorator.
Also wondering if a wooden choice might play well with the warm accents in the studio – like the blinds, fan blades, etc.
Whatever you choose will be uniquely beautifully you, and I am so glad to get to peek over your shoulder as you decide and complete this project!

    1. I think it’s fine to mix metals, but I like to keep categories the same, if that makes sense. So if the faucet will be gold (which mine will in here), I’d do the hand towel ring, toilet paper holder, towels bars, etc., the same color. I don’t think the light(s) need to match, but I do like for the metal on all wall and ceiling lights in a room to match in color. And I think that the door handles/hinges can be a different color, as long as all of the door handles/hinges match. So while I don’t think all metals in a room need to match, I like consistency in categories.

The sink in here is stainless steel, but all of the fixtures in the room will be gold.

  21. Kinda digging the wavy rectangle! Feel like it gives some height and draws the eye up more than the round ones do. Cant wait to see what you choose!

  22. I’m in agreement with Linda. I love the first wavy mirror, but when Linda pointed out the height on the last wavy one, I had to agree with her. The height helps in choosing this one because of the size of the room.

  23. I like the wavy oval best (taller, more organic) and the wavy round one second. Something about the beaded round one doesn’t look right to me (construction? beads spaced too far apart? not detailed enough?) whereas I loved the one on your chapel picture. My two cents. Surprising to me, I liked the pink ceiling!

  24. Kristi – I really like the first option. It gives the softness you need and it’s the perfect size. Ith last mirror is too long and round is too predictable. My opinions, it will be fun to see what you decide.

  25. I do like the painted ceiling. Have you tried a pale lavendar on the ceiling? Like the wainscotting color from a few post ago? I really liked the pale purple with the pale green of the back entrance. Purple and green complement each other well, as you know because you went for eggplant doors and probably vanity. You have plenty of pink in the studio, but there is also a lot of purple on that wallpaper and playing up the purple and the green kind of completes the pink instead of echoing it, in my opinion. You do you however, obviously! I love how you make your home your own ❤

  26. The beaded round mirror is you. The last one you showed is classy…the oval one. It really looks good.
No pink ceilings. That’s too much but the vanity painted the eggplant looks good to me.

    Just my opinions.
