A Few Fun, Interactive Before & After Views

Well, I came so close to getting the bathroom storage cabinet finished, and as I was working last night, I had planned to push through until it was finished. But at around 9:00pm, I hit a wall — completely ran out of steam and motivation — and decided to hold off. Once I reach that point while I’m working, I generally find that if I try to push past that point and keep plugging away, that’s when I start making mistakes that have to be redone. So I’ll finish sit today and show y’all how it turned out tomorrow. I’m SO incredibly excited with how it’s turning out. I surprised myself with my decision about what to do with the inside of the cabinet, so I can’t wait to see what y’all think about it.

Anyway, I spent a little time this weekend updating a couple of pages on this website, and I came across a fun tool on my website that I never knew existed. I don’t know how I missed it, because it’s something that I could have used on all of my before and after posts. What I’m talking about is this fun little interactive slider where you can click or tap on the center white circle with the arrows, and drag it left and right to compare two pictures. How great is this for before and after pictures?!

I might have to go back and add these to a whole lot of past posts. What a great way to compare a before and after view!

Before and after pictures are my favorite things to look at, and I love an easy way to compare them. Really comparing the two generally involves a lot of scrolling back and forth to compare them. This makes it so easy to compare them. So you’ll probably see a whole lot more of it in future posts.

Since I was so focused on working on the bathroom cabinet this weekend, I didn’t take the time to take new pictures of any of these rooms. So these are a the same pictures you’ve already seen from the most recent before and after home tour I did about three months ago.

I’ve made some changes since then, like new artwork in the kitchen, a new living rooms sofa, and a new finish on the entryway credenza.

Maybe after I get the bathroom finished, I can focus on getting new, updated pictures of those areas. But for now, these pictures from earlier this year will do just fine. Here are a few more without commentary…

I just love those interactive before and after pictures! I didn’t add all of the before and after pictures that I shared earlier this year, so if you want to go back and see all of them (without these handy interactive sliders), you can see the whole house tour here:

  1. I just love seeing your before and after pics, even though I have seen them many times before. They are so amazing and your color style just pops!

    Have a great day, Kristi!

  2. If only we could do this in real life, my projects here on the farm would be done. I love the transformation that you have done. You are one busy bee! Can’t wait to see what’s next.

  3. As I was looking through these, it made me wonder if the people who grew up in this house have any idea what you’ve done with it. Absolutely amazing transformations.

    1. Agree. I would imagine they’d be absolutely stunned at how Kristi with her vision, creativity and hard work turned this ugly duckling into a gorgeous swan. Both inside and out.

  4. Truly stunning transformation. Your vision for what you wanted this home to be is extraordinary. But that kitchen…simply amazing! And I’m still in love with your raspberry pink petite sofa.

  5. Wow!!! Kristi! I love this tool! The changes you have made REALLY stand out using this! I have read through all of your posts on before/after but they never displayed as dramatically as they do when using this tool. Also, your rooms look so much more spacious with what you’ve done, even when you have added walls like for the butler’s pantry. You are so amazingly talented. The hall bathroom before, as an example – I never could have dreamed up the fabulous way you renovated it. You. Are. AMAZING!

  6. These are awesome comparisons! Your work is just beautiful. I’m curious – do you know if the previous owners have ever seen the changes? Whether thru your blog or just by stopping by?

    1. I think they follow my blog, maybe not on a regular basis, but just checking in every once in a while to see what has changed. The last time I spoke with them (which has been a while ago now), they were amazed at the changes. 🙂

  7. That tool is the coolest, and really makes it so easy to see how much it has changed. When I have to go up and down to see the before and after I miss so much…this is actually fun, and SO much easier to see the transformation. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. NIGHT and DAY…you are amazing! I think most of us could never have that much vision for the changes you have done…including the amazing colors and decorating you have done.

  8. I like these sliders in general, but in your case they look REALLY great because you take care to take photos from all angles, and at exactly the same angles, too.

I do have one little problem with them: Even though I read your blog on a computer with a 24-inch monitor, your photos are generally too big to see in one piece (or, to be exact, the size of them on the webpage, the placeholder, if you like), so I often open them in a new tab in order to see the entire picture. This doesn’t work with the slider pics though. Any ideas?

    1. I was just looking at it on my laptop and noticed that same thing. I’ll have to see what can be done. Maybe there’s a simple solution that I’m missing, or maybe I’ll have to just upload pictures that have been resized when I’m using the interactive slider.

  9. Love the slider tool!

You can really see the transformation in the general change of colours and tone – from green, yellow, beigeness to bright white, pinks and teals.

Just goes to show how much that change to your lightbulbs can really make a difference, lighting really does make a difference – never mind all your awesome transformations 😉

(oh and I’m not even trying to say you could of made what you had previously ant better by just changing a lightbulb!)

  10. Oh my goodness Kristi. what a difference! I now can finally see how your home is designed. Going back and forth the long way, I often couldn’t see whereabouts in the house your improvement was located. So much easier now to see where everything is. You are so special. Say hi to Matt for me. Also, we haven’t heard much about Cooper and the cats lately. Are they all okay? Thank you!

  11. Holy cow, Kristi! These photos are amazing! Nearly every surface, accessory, piece of furniture (except for a few major items), from floor to ceiling has had the touch of your magic hands! What a comparison. You ROCK, girl! Many kudos to you!

  12. It’s absolutely remarkable what you’ve done with this place! From drab and dingy to bright and beautiful! Just amazing!
